But why would the RMT groups use the global chat and paint a big red target on their foreheads, is what I'm saying.

FF11's RMT countermeasures were a slow start and then out of nowhere they came down swift and banned a ton of people a few years ago. Before then RMTs infested NM/HNM spots and all of a sudden they were all gone. And either way the utility and good that a global chat channel can do far outweighs that negative. It's like the people that didn't want jump just because they don't want to see it.

I still run into people who do not know how to use the search functionality or how to set their status to seek.
A lot of people actually.
And it is not very intuitive to those who do not already know.

And even so, still seems to not be as effective as shouting.

Perhaps what is being suggested is more along the lines of:
Global Chat Channels

Just like linkshells, but you do not need to equip a linkshell to use it (and therefore do not need to be a member).
There would be more than one chat channel you can join, for example:
/chat "Conjurer" <message>
/chat "Goldsmith" <message>
/chat "ExpParty" <message>
/chat "Primals" <message>

Everyone could tune into which channel they want to listen/speak on.
Would make it easy for many people to talk with each other based on a specific topic.
Could blacklist people who spam or are annoying.

Nothing is intuitive with SE, but people should explore the UI a bit more. I had little problems figuring it out and i'm not some genius, just an ordinary player.
