If I may add a slight point of clarification to the housing demolition notification e-mails, since it seems the response from the Game Masters may not have been clear or misunderstood.

When this is reported to us, we escalate these reports as potential errors to be looked into to ensure there is not an error within our system. In the cases that have been reported to us through various means, we have been able to confirm that the notification e-mails were sent correctly by our system to the e-mail address that is registered on the account. However, once the e-mail has been correctly sent by us, we cannot ensure that it was successfully delivered. Internet issues between e-mail delivery systems, spam filters (by an ISP, e-mail provider, or the settings that have been set), the incorrect e-mail being looked at, or the notifications being improperly labeled as junk mail could all result in the notification not being seen.

We do recommend making sure that any filters or settings under our customers' control are set to allow these e-mails to be correctly received and to make sure that the e-mail address on the account is correct.

If you do feel that the notification is not being sent correctly, please do submit a bug report so that we can investigate it. We do not want to assume that errors never occur, and would prefer to verify the system is working correctly than allow errors that prevent the notifications from being sent out.

I hope that helps clear up the Game Master responses that have been mentioned.

If you read my first post, I said that I was sympathetic to how crappy the Housing is designed in this game. And I never said anything about being against implementing new systems to warn players in-game on top of the outside notifications about demolition. But auto-demolition has been a thing for years (since mid-2.x), and if the OP has been playing since 2.0, they would have heard about it by now, I think. It’s a hot topic of debate on various platforms, present in Patch Notes, present on the Lodestone when they mention suspensions of it and reactivations of it. I question how they missed these notices when they also show up on the launcher itself under “News”.

If someone goes 80 days (again, almost 3 months) without stepping into their house or even thinking about it (but still has time to think about seasonal events, participate in them, and even do weekly Gold Saucer content), how am I supposed to be sympathetic to someone not using their house, and then saying they’re quitting over something that they didn’t use for 3 months? I don’t know how they were grinding out Yokai weapons in 4.2, because that’s when Shirogane 2nd wave came out and Yokai hasn’t been a thing since last summer, but they had time enough to do other things.

To be quite fair, portions of housing are explained on the Lodestone and the forums. You can't possibly argue that someone that invested in XIV and housing wouldn't think about checking the Lodestone and the game's own forums for information regarding their own house?

Why do we suddenly need the game itself to say what's already been said simply because one person did not think to use the tools that were available to him at his disposal? Hell, he could have asked ANYONE in-game about it whether it was friends or FC members.

It's one thing to be completely new to the game, like new as in they've JUST started, it's another thing to say you've been playing the game for 1,860 days and all of a sudden you didn't know about this.

Well, let me just say it's a little upsetting to see people blame the OP for not knowing, instead of trying to address a pretty legitimate concern as a community. I'm a little confused when people put in doubt whether they were -truly- invested in the game/housing. That's not sympathetic, it seems like a low-key attempt to belittle their concern while trying to feel superior themselves.

I suppose there's a good reason why a big part of the community discuss these problems in external sites, because their concerns here are usually met with snarky remarks or condescending comments. If that's the community you want to foster, then by all means, don't let me stop you.

LOL, okay. It’s not that hard to research and/or read Patch Notes or other Notices that are present on the launcher. Don’t say I’m “fostering a hostile community” because I’m telling people to just read and research things.

I’ve already addressed Housing concerns multiple times on here. But, by all means, continue to judge my character. That’s not addressing the issue either.

Only because you seem to be set on insisting it has to be one or another, while pretty much everyone who responded to you stated that it is both. Can the system be improved? Sure. But that still doesn't change the fact that the OP in this case take the lion share of the responsibility over losing his own house. It's not like they were hiding information. They were headlight material in patch note and launchers many times before, especially for who has been invested for as long as OP claimed. The information is still there there for those who seek it out. The timer in the calendar ...etc... The email, whether it works or not is just one of the MANY measures in place to warn the players. In my case, it doesn't matter if it works or not, I would check my house on interval regardless, simply the fact that I'm informed.

Accountability has to have a minimum floor somewhere. I do gardening on my private lots, and I had lost count how many times I lost my expensive crops because I forgot to care for them. The reasons varies: didn't log in for many days, too focus on raid progression, too busy playing brain death in Pagos, sometime it's as comical as I actually visit the house daily, but forgot to pass by the garden (since they way I decor my yard they're hidden from the main pathway). Do I wish for a system where the game literally yell at my face "HEY YOUR CROP ARE GOING TO DIE SOON, MOVE IT!", I had never blame anyone or anything else but my own. If you start accepting any and everything as excuse, there will never be enough.

That's because I feel that pointing out their mistake while they are sharing their frustration is like kicking them while they are down. I'm not entirely sure who benefits from that, and frankly the way it's delivered just feels off to me.
Don't worry, I can tell when I'm the minority in my point of view, and this will be my last reply on the matter. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Two reasons here.
One, the OP was going on and on about how much he was into the game, but never took the time to learn about it's functions it seems. They set themselves up for this, really. I'm not trying to victim blame, I simply just see it as an illogical step in what happened.
Two, the systems have been stated to be working fine time and time again. Seemingly very few legitimate bug reports are going out on this even though tons of people supposedly have issues. But not one has been confirmed as a bug in the system. There was a recent topic about this very subject and I think a lot of players finally got the idea that there's no real danger, it's people simply mismanaging themselves.

Like I said before, I wish everyone could have a house. I really do. But this is what we have, and we do what we can to work with it. I don't think myself, Hyomin, Sigma-Astra (Do you prefer Soma?) or anyone else is going on with a superiority complex. We're just stating facts.

Many people who have said that they did not receive emails about demolition or found them in their spam section, have no issue receiving other emails from SE for things such as notification of subscription payment, receipts from the Mog Station and promotional notices in their standard inbox.

Perhaps SE need to change something about the nature of the emails they send regarding demolition, because it's very odd and honestly irritating that they're often flagged as spam while other emails from them are not.

If a person has no issue receiving other emails from SE then they're naturally going to assume they will not have issue getting demolition notices either. This inconsistency is very misleading and many people have found out about it too late.
