SE's most experienced and talented MMO producer is Yoshi and he's wholeheartedly devoted to XIV. There's very few people SE could hire to work on the new MMO that have the experienced required to get it off the ground, so it's risky without pulling resources

If I could maybe offer a slight correction Johnny, your launch dates for both games are incorrect: FFXI was actually released in Japan only in 2002, the US release was in 2003, with Europe finally getting it in 2004. FFXIV 1.0 was released in 2010 and was shut down in 2012, with ARR's development starting not long after Yoshi took over from Tanaka as producer in late 2010/early 2011.

But I agree with the rest of what you stated, Yoshi is pretty much the only man for the job for any hypothetical FF MMO, and because he already has his hands full with FFXIV's ongoing development (not to mention he is now a board member of SE too), I don't see him taking on another MMO project as well, as it would just be too much for one man to be able to deal with at once (I'm actually starting to worry about Yoshi's health, even with his typical Japanese workaholic work ethic, he takes his work on this game extremely seriously and thus I'm concerned he may be working too hard. But that's just me.).

I found the Mr. Happy video where he talks about the interview with Mr. Yoshida, I posted the link on the first post on this thread xD.

I'd personally love a new ff MMO. I wish XI wasn't so graphically awful because it's a billion times better than XIV. Can't see it happening anytime soon.

Give me FFXI with FFXIV graphics and a fresh start and I would be all over that, so would a lot of my old XI buddies who dislike XIV.

This topic came up a little ways back. My response is still the same, and that I wouldn't even begin to suspect another FF MMO until the next gen consoles are alive and kicking.

Unless SE is sitting on more money than they know what to do with (they're not) to hire another dev team, stretching the current resources would only result in all three FF MMOs suffering.

Anything is possible.. I would love to see FF main title Ivalice MMO.

I will not expect it for another 10-15 yrs, it took long for ff15 release date, even ff7 is under new development again so nope XD.

The only reason SE killed the original Final Fantasy XIV (1.0) was because no one could run it without issues, the game had too much graphics quality at the time besides having such slow gameplay, the current XIV looks really old now and I welcome any idea of making a new MMO in the main Final Fantasy line!...


It takes about five years to develop a game so there should still be a couple of years left for this game, maybe one last expansion, the PlayStation 5 is expected to release by next year's end and the Producer had said that's what they needed to improve the visuals in this title, instead of that they could focus all that work into making the next Final Fantasy Online, I only hope they allow us to import our characters from Eorzea and continue the adventure in the new realm, whatever happens Miqo'te and Hyur must be brought back in the next game!...

The closest you are getting to one in the immediate future will probably be the mobile version of FFXI that Nexon are making that is probably due out next year or in 2020. Having said that it's probably going to play more like Lineage mobile ports than FFXI on PC did.

MMOs usually take like 4-5 years to develop properly. Original FFXIV was announced in 2006 and came out in 2010. I doubt they would announce something like that that early again as it's a bad move against this MMO which is still growing.

If the mobile of FFXI is actually an MMO then they have four MMOs in the company, FFXIV, the original FFXI (However, I can't see this lasting much longer), the Dragon Quest MMO and The FFXI mobile version. Another one is over-kill.
