Then the hard content isn't geared towards you.
The point of difficult content is to challenge yourself. If all you see it as is a time sink, clearly its not for you.
One can say the same thing about crafting tbh, its easier once it gets nerfed when gear/lvl increases. its definitely not limited to combat.
Personally, I don't really care if they nerf content later. Other than coil, you can ilvl sync stuff if you really want to experience it as was, they haven't nerfed things too bad post 3.0.
Because it eliminates the prestige. Which is one of the biggest driving forces of the human race.
It's like owning an Aston Martin for example quite prestigious normally... doesn't mean avthingbif the entire stat owns one...
Prestige is a massive human motivator. Because it's something virtually everyone seeking one form or another
It's just how things work... you get stronger as you progress and so does your gear so you can deal with the next challenge... we can level and ilvl sync most stuff... and anything else just level sync and swap gear to ironworks gear... boom, no longer faceroll... tho I think new people should run content as designed so they can learn mechanics for later fights...
I'd think about it more like fashion - its cool and new and prestige (and expensive) when its the most recent collection.
And then it goes on sale and more people can afford it and the next year theres a new high fashion thats cool and prestige.
I dont really see why the prestige from clearing those fights should be indefinetly - actually, that would work against your driving force here: if you've proven yourself once, you can just lay back. The old content getting easier and new, difficult content being introduced your motivator kicks in again. You're not getting to rest on your ARR-laurels forever.
If the only reason (general) you value your synced clears is to basically hold yourself above others who do not have synced clears, well, then that sounds like more of a personal problem, with all due respect. If your clear is devalued just because others put in less work and effort for theirs, then there probably wasn’t much stock in it beforehand; at least not much beyond just holding it over the heads of others. Someone clearing the content unsynced shouldn’t devalue your hard effort, nor take it away from you. It doesn’t change that you “worked harder” or “earned your clear more than they did” at the end of the day. That is, only if you don’t let it.
Someone clearing A11S now in Patch 4.3 doesn’t devalue my clear of it when it was relevant. Someone clearing Neo in 5.0 doesn’t devalue my clear in 4.1; same with God Kefka. Same with UCoB/UwU when I clear them. It doesn’t change that I put in a ton of time and effort into clearing it when it was relevant, and it doesn’t devalue my experience nor my achievement. Because I don’t let it, but also because I don’t look to hold my achievements over the heads of other people. My achievements are for myself.
That’s my opinion on it.
Perhaps for some. Plenty of others don't been gratification from other people. Speaking only for myself, I still have the spear I won from Nidhogg. Why? He was my first clear on actually difficult content. And I cleared him literally an hour before 3.4's maintenance. I couldn't give a hoot about his bird, but that spear is something I'll have until the day I quit or the game goes down. I prog content for myself. Are the rewards nice? Of course. But they aren't why I do the content. They're simply a nice bonus.
I always find it interesting to hear the differences in pov between the "I did it and nobody else should ever be allowed to do it easier"s and the "I'm in it for the challenge and once I've moved on I don't care"s.
This is mindset I fit in as well. Normally it's gating something I want to do and that's the only reason it ever gets done. I also don't always view the scaling as 'nerf'. Just Scaling. Because of the content release system and Dungeon, then HM,then Savage, then ultra, uber, ermagerd hard on the same dungeon, they need to fall back on the original to keep the latter in check with real gear score potential.
There is also the other aspect of "hard" that I account for. It's a hardware check and usually I am going to fail. I wait because completing the said content is just frustrating with my GPU and I'm not pretending my "skill" has anything to do with it.
As far as challenges go, it would have been fine for Coil except that there is a very significant story closure attached to the raid. The difficulty of the Coil raids were too hard for many. So SE had to make normalized raids in future patches for other to enjoy the story. In most RPGs, including ones made by SE, most of the hard bosses are optional ones.
As far as the topic question is concerned, it doesn't bother me much. As long as I can play, enjoy it, and help others in the game progress/clear the content, I'll be satisfied. If anyone wants to see my achievements and whatnot, all of the Achievements of my 3 current active characters are open for all to see on the Lodestone website if they care.
