Why is this such a common complaint?
Just learn the mobs and deal with them, it's not relevant what moves they use. Nor is it relevant that new players never had those abilities, if anything that means the apppearence of said monsters is even more unique to new players.
So clearly you don't understand. Tell me a mob that can one shot, or one hit from it, to an entire r50 party that is an r50 mob. They are not equal in difficulty of other mobs same level this is not a case of learning how a mob works. It's unbalanced, then again seems to be common occurrence to have a ton of weak mobs around one surprisingly random one shotter. It's not a major crisis or anything just seems like another small thing looked over. My guess they took out old abilities then when they gave us these new abilities they changed stats or something and didn't think about mobs still having old abilities creating an unbalanced damage output.
Citadel BusterQuote:
Proto-ultima's big attack (cant remember the name) can one shot an alliance.
Thats the one, didn't fight proto-ultima much, my ls'd focused more on appolyon and omega cos hes easier, but the few times I fought ultima wow I loved that one, 5, 4, 3 "OMFG MOVE NOW", 1 Proto-Ultima uses Citadel Buster, melee drop to the floor "Omg wth was that".
Thats what games need, and what SE was going for with hellfire and moogle momento, but the SH mobs benefit from having things like that.
How do you think Dynamis statues felt in FFXI when 3-4 BLMs come and oneshot them do they cry "if they were DRGs we would have raped them :("
Eorzea doesn't have much sense of danger or any reason to explore right now, I remember in FFXI seeing sneak and invis wearing desperatly trying to find a safe spot to recast asap before loads of mobs raped you.
The only mobs a player cant handle are really the ones where no one goes, (except treeants) whereas in FFXI you could have to find a coffer the mobs around would oneshot you if you were detected and the coffers would make sneak and invis wear when you open them.
Running through areas like this (Xarcabard for Genkai quests anyone?) really gives you a sense of accomplishment, when the game came out I ran from Uldah to corthas on my lvl 20 LNC and wow it was one of the best feelings when I got my first camp there, after running past mobs that can easily oneshot me (and they did a few times). If you dont want oneshots then this game is where you should be, not FFXIV.
Whatever increases the difficulty, bring it.
