Airships/Submarines/Workshop For Individuals

Totally agree with this. I have my own FC and access to my own workshop. Airships and submarines have no reason to be FC only. It only promotes the idea of the select few who have control deciding who has access. That was one of the reasons I have my own FC. I couldn't use the garden in my old FC and I had no access to airship supplies.

Personal housing doesn't need to have access to as many as FC. That can be the small perk for the workshop being an FC workshop. But at least one makes sense. Especially from a lore perspective. We are accomplished crafters and we have someone like Cid as a mentor, and we can't tinker with any of this in our spare time? It's kind of silly that the option for personal airships don't exist when considered in that light.

I mean, if you did Ixal beast tribes, you help them build an airship before, why can't we make our own? And with Cid as a mentor as well, we should totally be able to own this airship thing!

I never knew why this wasn't a thing in the first place. Only about 1% of the playerbase take advantage of this feature, and no, it's not because FCs are selfish or w/e, it's only natural that FCs want to have some control over their airships and submarines by restricting their use to a small amount of their members (most trusted ones generally).
I'd definitely welcome such change (hell, some people even create small FCs alone for Airship and Submarine purposes, allow this feature to be used by private owners and suddenly we'd have even more housing plots open).

I think we should also have the ability to turn a personal house into a FC house since they don't seem to want to give us the right to have airships. Only 2 people in our FC do all the airships, projects, crafting etc and that shows me that we can easily run the workshop and airships solo. Come on Square Enix, its bad enough there isn't enough housing but making it impossible for the majority of players to get things like Fine Alumen, or the Zu Mount is simply unfair and corrupts the monetary system in the game.

Same as the selling of FC's which is still a thing even after all the changes. they are now selling FC houses for 400 million gil or more which tells me its simply so the money sellers can make more money, they made fake FC's and then turn them around to sell the gil. Not a house on Mateus, and while I would be willing to change to a different server the cost of moving my characters over and then have to wait and not get a house anyway would really make me hate the game more than I currently do. ADD MORE WARDS ALREADY!

I could imagine something like a public harbour where you could dock one submarine and one airship, not sure if the same upgrade system would work from a technical standpoint.
Anyway, giving everyone acess o 4 airships and 4 submarines is way too much, it really is a lot of work to farm all the parts and upgrade them.

Right now airship materials and other stuff are somewhat valuable, if every single player can send out ships anything that comes back wont be worth the effort, markets will be flooded.
You could make everything that comes back untradable but then you would eliminate the biggest income generator of an fc besides goodwill of players

True if every player could do it, but how many actually would?

If you're not an omnicrafter, you can't make the parts and they sell for millions of gil each on the marketboard. The materials can get expensive if you're not also a gatherer. Best case scenario is you're going to need 2 full sets of parts (the starting set then a final upgrade set once your ship reaches a high enough rank). Most workshops end up going to multiple sets depending on what they're farming.

It takes a lot of time to rank up the airships and submersibles. Our FC house was purchased first round of the lottery back in April (we weren't affected by the 0 bug). While our airships have been rank 50 for a couple of months, it was only last week that the final sector was discovered (was using 2 airships until I was down to that last sector and decided I'd rather have a 3rd sub than 2 airships operating). My subs range from 50 to 86 but I'm still working through unlocking the Sea of Jade sectors. I'm expecting another 3 weeks before I have Sirensong Sea unlocked. I might be caught up to the older workshops by the time the next map is added if it's not coming out in 6.2.

The value of most items that come back from voyages is pretty low - the good stuff generally is only worth a lot when first released. Players could choose to farm salvaged accessories but if those start generating too much gill, SE will nerf them into near nothing just as they've done with sell to vendor values on other items like materia/demi-materia.

SE could probably make it accessible to individual players and it wouldn't upset the balance that much in the long term other than a need to nerf Salvaged Accessories. Our FC's workshop is about 3 million gil to the good now but that's only because I had a massive stockpile of Voidrake and Althyk Lavender built up from my personal garden that we used for many of the materials needed to make the sub parts. Without that, we'd still be several million gil in the hole for materials or would have lost a massive amount of play time doing all the needed gathering (though we still did some of that).

Most players are going to decide it's not worth the bother with the costs offsetting the value of what they want to get out of it. Much easier to simply buy from others once the initial prices start dropping down to more reasonable levels.

There is one item, when crafted, that makes between 700k and 1m on my server, then we have the antique sink still at over 200k, the diverse crystals when crafted into that housing item (sorry forgot the name). The list goes on. Not huge amounts for most stuff but when added together its a very nice amount which would drop off to nothing if supply expands.
And true its quite an effort to run airships/subs. Also without a rework of basic ship mechanics its not even possible to be done without aid of an fc.Fuel for ships is bought with fc credits for one. And how many would keep up with gathering the repair materials.
Still i stand by my statement that i wouldnt like supply to grow above current fc's
