Funny, but with the Byakko weapon, I can't donw the O5S dummy, but with the 340 allagan, I can x)

That IS interesting. I might experiment with that a little when I get home.
I guess it's the impact of the crit.
I've tried to replay SAM again (with a new stuff, from DH+SS to Crit+DH for the MNK) and I can't down the O6S Dummy without a crit on 1 Midare at least. If I don't crit on a Midare, I can't get the dummy.
I think it's the same about MCH: if you don't have X crit during a Wildfire, you can't have the dps for the dummy.
Crit is so good on BRDs that being able to buff their own crit chance 100% of the time (when you have all 3 songs) would be ridiculous.
Except it can have 100% uptime and applies that increase to a whole group. Even if it was a marginal increase of, say, 2%, having that 2%xParty for a 5-10minute fight is not to be sniffed at. Let's not pretend like that's the only reason a BRD is desirable, either - be it TP, MP, Inc.DamageTaken, great AoE, solid DPS etc, etc...Quote:
Well, you see, the critical hit rate increase is only a 2%.
Meanwhile, Monky McMonk is throwing out a temporary Phys.Dam Increase on a long cooldown and... Well, aside from remaining a greedy (albeit solid) DPS, that's about the end of their usefulness. It also doesn't help that they're a grossly position-reliant DPS in a game where you can be sure said positioning is being constantly tested by danger zones while Bardy McBard is enjoying the show further away in relative safety, with movement incurring no DPS penalty at all. Hell they can permanently look away from enemies and still auto-attack from miles away. Monk used to be my DPS of choice, but having levelled BRD and LNC, I dropped that MNK like a hot-spud for countless reasons.
