Did they fix the updater?

Hm, I'm not sure I know in FFXI you just deleted a relevant .dat (like a body armor) and force file check and that forces the download.

You can try this out, I'm not sure if I did this correctly though haha, I just grabbed the folder real quick from hooking up to teamviewer.

At least you guys can download the update, though slow; my college has torrenting completely blocked, so I am unable to officially download the game's patches, having to rely completely on other uploading the patch on direct downloads website.

My college blocks them too, but I once happened to be in the IT department on an errand for my boss, and just happened to idly mention how frustrating it was that my new game couldn't update because it used P2P. After that I just have to e-mail someone every time there was an update. Still, the connection speed is so slow that it's almost worth it for me to wait til a weekend and drive home. v_v

I've always felt like the updater should be smart enough to realize it can't get any P2P connections, and then switch to an old-fashioned direct download.

You should try contacting your IT department. If yours is anything like mine, the IT department is never helpful; but once you find the ones who leave their IT job to play video games for 10 hours... sometimes you can win. :P

The updater is "working better" because peer to peer isn't used on the minor patches.

For months i couldn't use the updater and i was forced to get torrents and direct downloads from TehKrizz. It started working properly again with the 1.19 update. So random.

On-topic: The downloader has worked well for me since 1.20, a lot better than bittorrent.

Bah, I can't be bothered to level anything past 30. :P

Once I get my computer back in shape I'll get them all to 30.
(And maybe a few crafting classes but, don't count on it. :P)

Smaller patches like these always go quickly. Its the big ones that causes the issues for some.

I haven't had trouble with the official updater since July 2010. Not even the main number patches give me problems.
