I love giving DPS my comms. Sometimes a Tank is just outstanding and will get it but normally it is for a DPS. Only exception is Sprouts that are trying hard in any role. I hope they use the encouragement to keep progressing.

Most healers in this game are crap. So, you're not getting my commendation unless you're good.
I think the difficulty with healers giving comms to other healers is that we're more experienced at healing and thus more critical. I'm far more likely to give a comm to a healer who plays better than I did than one that doesn't (even if they were perfectly fine), unless the rest of the group is really bad and we had to carry them through it. It can make it somewhat harder to get it than another role where I don't know the nuances as well and don't have myself to compare to in real time.
In case there is a new player I tend to give them a comm if they showed improvement. For instance, I did the lv 48 à BLM who had litteraly no clue about what he was doing. Fire2 on one target, fire1 during aoe sessions, no use of fire/ice etc etc.
After the second pull I started explaining him a few things like "when there are 3 or more mobs, use fire and thunder, etc, altough it took some time and you could see he was actually processing the info, he was applying all the advice. Thus, I concidered he deserved a commandation because he improved himself and became a better BLM (I got the 3 other comms tho)
I think it's important to encourage new players
I'm more concerned with damage mitigation and hots. If i notice our party is filled with buffs and no one has died from lack of heals, chances are the other healer is pulling their weight and is more likely to be getting a recommendation from me.
Tanks that are easy to heal, encourage grouping in raids, and face bosses head on without dying get first priority for me since they are so few and far between.
DPS is less likely unless I notice one has avoided taking damage, is working diligently to do damage, and if they give me mana buffs oh boy they are gonna be a top contender for recommendation.
If none of those criteria are met, I do not recommend anyone.
New players that seem to adapt or show confidence in their abilities are also likely to get a recommendation.
Why the hell would I automatically give you a commendation JUST for playing the same role as me? If I give it to someone, it's because I feel they deserved it (regardless of their role).Quote:
Healers that don't give healers commendations?
Every time I do a trial or raid.I always give my com to the other healer. I don't expect anything sometimes I get one and sometimes I don't but I was just wondering why don't you give your com to the other healer?
If I see a netflix Healer as my co-pilot when I'm playing my main, they're the last thing I'm going to commend. If neither the tanks nor DPS were playing to any noticeable standard and my co-Healer, like me, is busting their 3D-model-ass to heal, damage and go above and beyond, they're getting my commendation no questions asked. Over the last few hours of grinding on Bard via roulette's, I've handed out about 2 commendations out of about 8+ dungeons due to poor performances across the board - netflix healers, tanks who can't hold aggro, mechanically failing DPS with low damage etc. Should I just comm the second DPS because I was DPS at the time? Hell no. Earn it.
A commendation is a 'recommendation'. If you want them, show people why you should be recommended.
EDIT: I'm aware everyone has their own standard/reasoning, and that the system allows this. I do not expect people to give commendations a certain way, but the above is absolutely how *I* hand them out.
In 8-man, the less we step on each other's toes, and actually help each other out, the more likely I am to give the other healer the comm.
When I am running as a tank, the healer doesn't get the comm by default. If I feel they are trying the hardest, then they will get the comm.
I like to give all players an equal chance to get the commendation, but depending on what role you're playing, it can be easier for another one to stand out to you. So I tend to raise the standards a bit in these cases.
I almost always commend dps. Can't really say I've ever commended another healer except for Nidhogg or Shinryu on release. I essentially don't even need them in all other content.
As I main tank classes, I'm overly critical of other tanks. Especially so in 4 man content when I'm not the tank.
So if they play up to my standards, they're getting the com.
Next in line comes the DPS, where they need to be able to play more than mash their head on the keyboard while watching netflix on the side.
Lastly, I'm sorry healers, but you'll get the comm if nobody else deserves it and you managed to do your job too. If you stand around twiddling your thumbs where there's time to dps, for example, you'll not get anything.
There's many times I don't give out a commendation at all. :\
I do not rate people in votes. I give my comms to whoever is my role in eight-man, or is my counterpart in four-man. (healer-tank,dps-dps) I only make an exception if that person was really mean or obviously afk a lot.
