All of the Healers gauges feel tacked on. I am fond of the simple gauge for Blm, I am also happy with Bards gauge.
I would love to remove most of the gauges I don't need them. I would like them to attempt to make Healers gauge feel more dynamic and useful but I am not holding my breath.
You can. They added that in 4.1. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/blog/002175.html
WHM and PLD are the two best examples of "we wanted to give every job a gauge, so here's a thing." Neither of them are well integrated or terribly important, and if you simply removed them, put Sheltron/Intervention on a cooldown and let Divine Bension be cast without a lily, people likely wouldn't even notice right away.
There's other jobs where they're more important and other jobs where they help to explain what is going on (BLM, because there's a LOT of things to track). And there's weird omissions like why is Dualcast on the status bar and not on the RDM gauge?
For the most part I think it works... but seriously, do something about the lilies. (And Secret of the Lily II, aka the worst trait in the game.)
They all feel irrelevant IMO, especially the tank gauges.
But probably the biggest gripe is they are not used until late end game or exactly at lvl70. And so they seem kind of redundant. By next expansion they will have meaning due to us having more abilites that use the gauges.
Paladins will be now uplayable, gg wp. !!
I really like the BRD gauge. It actually feels like it has a point. Which is the complete opposite of the WHM gauge.
From the very beginning WHMs complained that the gauge was useless. It gives no noticeable benefit besides allowing Benison to be cast, which then isn't even that strong of an ability. Lilies bring nothing unique to the job and, like someone else mentioned, Secret of the Lily II is the worst trait in the game. It's literally RNG (20%) on top of RNG (crit chance) on two spells that aren't used nearly enough if you know what you are doing (Cure/Cure II).
I really like the BRD gauge. It helps me keep track of how long a song has before it goes down and the sound it makes when I have 3 Repotoire up helps me use Pitch Perfect carefully.
I like the warrior one! It’s perfect for covering up my now completely useless mana bar.
