Thoughts From Ex-Balmung Players?

I never regretted my decision to leave Balmung behind and went to Odin. I did this back when Leviathan EX was some of the current content though. But man, many players there was more toxic than what I ever had encountered in WOW even. And for some reasons I was even begged to move to ARR when it launched, when I had been on Saronia/Sargatanas all the time I played in 1.0.

I left Balmung after the Stormblood expansion hit due to the outrageous queue times and the free transfer out of congested servers. I had been unsubscribed for nearly a year at that point, so I left very few people behind. The FC I was in was still around, but I only knew one person. With the cross-server party finder and duty finder, I don't feel like I've missed out on anything. I'd leave Balmung again in a heartbeat.

Bonus: On my new server, I stumbed upon an old friend that I knew from XI (thankfully, he was still using the same unique name) that I had lost touch with for ~10 years, and now we do a bunch of stuff together.

I left Balmung but not completely to play on servers I already had houses and characters on. Mateus & Faerie. As soon as the queues died down, I went right back to Balmung. I had transferred from Faerie to Balmung 3 or so years ago. This is also after playing on Siren as well. Honestly there's so much going on here. This is coming from a non-rper and someone a bit recluse. I remember being amazed that I progressed further on an alt in a month's time than I did in 2 YEARS on two small-mid pop severs. I get Balmung isn't very one's cup of tea but to me it just offers so much more than the other servers. Servers I've been on is Jenova, Siren, Mateus, Balmung, Faerie, Gilgamesh, Sargatanas, Cactus. Zalera, & Brynhildr.

It's not something that happens daily. Everyday you might get really short queues that's less than 20 people but you can get in after the second try. There will never be congestion so being booted out for it won't happen.

Obviously, long queues will happen depending on what a patch brings, one being Housing. Otherwise, you'd get longer but still fairly normal queues.

The 2-4 hour queues and server congestion from SB was just a one-time thing, and It'll happen again when a new expansion comes out.

I don't understand why people bother to talk about certain World? What is the point? I don't think anyone gives a toss about it plus who cares?

It's just another world in this game. Stop making a big deal out of it.

I left the server before the lock simply because at the time, I'd sort of hit that point where I didn't have anything to lose. My RP character died in an event (voluntary OOCly, I accepted the consequences of stupid actions), I had no house (nor hope of getting one), and as for friends, all my RL friends played on other servers, and the in-game ones I could keep into contact with, via Discord. So I decided to go for Mateus. Got myself a house, which was awesome, and joined the growing community of RP'ers over there. I've been pretty happy since then.

Balmung may be large, but there is a strong clique mentality there as well. A few FCs I tried to get into had their recruitment closed, but their enjin/tumblr pages were constantly listing newly recruited people. It was a matter of who you knew. I didn't know anyone, so I was out of luck.
