RDM: Does it get fun at 70?

I personally really enjoy RDM because it is mechanically simple, has great utility, and can compete effectively with the other DPS classes. If you enjoy mechanical complexity, there’s several other DPS classes you might prefer. I’m personally hoping they retain RDM’s current flavor and simplicity. If I ever feel bored by it, I’ll just level something else (SAM or BLM most likely).

They made the job so that you have all yyou need when leveling which is why you have this feeling.
For instance, in HW BLM couldn't have a proper glimpse of their rotation until 60 since 8t required the 2 - ga spells + enochian. (getting enochian when u have no - ga spell felt really weird)

I get what you mean but the boredom was inexistent when I leveled SAM. In fact, it got more fun past 62...

Personally I am incredibly bored by Rdm. It was fun at first, cause the mix of ranged and melee was new, but the lackluster rotation killed it for me fast. Not even on 70 it changes, you basically keep doing the same stuff on 70 than you did on 50. It never changes up its routine and not even the skill gotten at max lvl adds complexity.

Double verfinisher is far from mastering it. Double verfinisher is understanding it's burst. I never claimed it to be mechanically complex but the differences between people who respect it's minutiae and those who don't show.

If you time your manafication and embolden right, you can fit two verfinishers in the space of one embolden. Even without embolden's buff, you push two burst phases virtually back to back for immense payoff.

I'm still leveling Red Mage, but when you compare Black and Red you're comparing a "Deep" class with a "Wide" class, the wide class does more variety of things, but as a result tends toward simplicity. A deep job does only one thing and in order to make it interesting does it in a complicated fashion.
Plus, Red Magic is still very "young" compared to Black. You'd really have to compare it to 2.0 Black Magic to get a good idea of where it stands. And level 50 Black Magic Rotations are fairly simple compared to post expansion level ones.
I have a feeling that when Red Magic starts to get adjusted, we are going to see the melee combo being available more often during play. If I were designing a class like RM, I'd intentionally keep the melee combo somewhat infrequent to begin with, so that I can tweak it to go faster and present it as a "buff" instead of starting off with it too fast and then having to "nerf" it.

I am the same way, i unlocked it tried it out, but I just don't want to level it. Though I do main SMN for dps so i mean, for a caster, rdm is boring in comparison.
