Can we as paying customers agree the lack of Housing is simply unacceptable to SE?

Manuel.. that might be something that makes sense to some: if there also wasn't content gated behind housing as well; and apartments, or for that matter the unused 'tenants' system before it, actually worked and was available as an equal opportunity to everyone who pays real money to play the game: and have, do and still want to put hours more into it. It's common sense you don't gate content behind a wall only 1-3% of your paying customers have access to. Including those who pay max subscription for extra retainers and other things that pay your bills and keep the game running. It's common sense, if something's broken like that, you fix it, or expect your paying customers to go somewhere else.

First: Everybody is entitled to their perspective and I can respect that. I happen to be one of those players that pays max retainers, legacy player as well, and such so invalid context to an extend.

Second how is content being gated when everyone did and has had a chance at it?

Third: Why do you think more wards were opened and than stopped? There is only so much capacity for certain areas to ensure we don't get D/C and from a business perspective it makes no sense to build on older side of content. Therefor common sense wise, they are opening an area in new content. TO BE FAIR they are doing the transferring option so even older members have access to it.

Finally I rather, as a paying customer, have them fix more important issues and spend funds on newer content. Over all every one has and has had a chance to acquire housing. We ALL pay subscriptions and no one has more special privileges than others. The system is not broken, if there isn't enough supply to meet demand is do to various explained factors. Besides I'm sure most people would love to move to new areas or try. Some housing plots will become available and all that will determine who gets them is who can be creative and take time to get them. In other words it's not broken, it's more of the early bird gets the worm and those who snooze they lose.

The simple fact is that yes, "there are ways".
The problem with that fact is that those "ways" not only shouldn't even be necessary in the first place, but have been ban-worthy offenses for one; end up bleeding people of their time (in-game and otherwise), efforts and yes twenty if not fifty times the amount those few who got a house or apartment paid for it.
Because some have jobs.
Because some have school.
And more recently?
Because some had a hurricane dropped on their heads.

Players without housing have no access to gardening, workshops or anything in them, anything having to do with stables, or using anything they craft outside of gear short of quest items. They can't place retainers. They can't put up a shop on the land they don't own. As for your comment about paying for extra retainers? Awesome. I challenge you to drop your houses and any money or items gained from them and come down to the level of new players and the rest of us who do too and don't have that.

Wew lads. I can't believe there's actually someone who thinks this is a good system. Obviously not everyone has access to all the content locked behind housing. When's the last time you've seen a truly successful Free Company without a house? When I got my house it was luck. I don't feel that I worked any harder for it than anybody else who wants a house. I was in the right place at the right time.

SE's insistence on wards is holding them back. How can you defend this system when literally no other MMO with housing has this problem? It would be one thing if there wasn't content locked behind the houses and they were only for decorating, but they aren't, and SE continues to add more outdoor furnishings for holiday events, as quest rewards, in the cash shop, while acting as if it isn't only 1% of people in the game that actually own a house. I specify outdoor, because you can't use those furnishings in FC rooms or apartments.

There is absolutely no reason ANY rules of the real world should apply to housing because it's stupid for them to. There is no other content in the game that players can't equally access as long as they put in the work. But with housing, you CAN put in the work and still not get a house, simply because there are none available. This shouldn't be a hard concept to grasp, but I'm sure someone is going to roll on in here and proclaim that anybody can get a house really quick, even though basic math would show that's not true.

Being entitled is demanding unfair, special treatment because you feel you are better or more deserving than someone else. Wanting to be treated exactly the same - not better, not worse - as the person next to you is not entitlement. People just want a fair chance to own a house and, sorry, paying someone 5x market value for an unused or barely used plot someone's alt has been sitting on for months isn't really fair.

Lastly, it's just full of holes. Okay, fine, for the sake of this argument, let's call the current housing situation..."fair." Okay, cool, then by that same logic, it would also be fair for them to never bring back zone instances, correct? A zone can only hold so many people, right? It's not my fault you didn't get there first. Not my fault you can't access that zone to continue the story, farm for mats, do maps, hunt mobs, etc. Why stop there? Let's do the same for dungeons! Why do you need access to this dungeon? I was here first. Just go do something else. This dungeon can only hold so many people.

It's funny how the most ardent defenders of the current housing situation are the ones who actually have houses. It's almost as if...they enjoy this...special treatment. Almost as if...they're entitled?

The entire point of and title of the thread that you're missing sweety. The plots should be available to ALL their paying customers at the same cost and effort. Not a jacked-up player market riddled with scammers and the multitude of other problems caused by lack of availability provided by it's creators.
I've been playing for years, and seen your type, who very much like that kind of imbalance.

Not really, the ? makes it a type of debate. I am a paying customer after all :P also Done it 2x so far. While I may be able to do it why start over from scratch? Unlike some people I don't lack common sense. New cupcake generation / snowflake , yes SE please give everyone a plot so no ones feelings get hurt. /em plays the worlds smallest violin

***Note you do know housing is optional not part of the main game right?

Again, housing is viewed as optional and not critical content. I didnt even have a house till I got one a few months ago and ive been playing for 3 years now. I didn't need it then, and part of me feels I don't need it now. (I like decorating tho) However we tend to get open plots frequently enough on our server.

We were all newbs that didnt have shiny or houses or the like. Most people did work for what they have. And while yes some people clearly abuse the system, thats just how the system was built and Square is not going to change that. It's just beating a dead horse at this point. I was surprised when they even introduced apartments to offset the housing situation.

While I am not ok with the situation, I've accepted its what the devs want. Since it doesn't affect my gameplay at all I just keep plugging along. If you dont like it, show it with how you spend your money. A drop in profits can make a company turn things around at the very least.

Nope I'm implying some players are more dedicated than others. God forbid I work *gasp I go to school * Double gasp * and I have family that was affected in TX and FL *Triple Gasp , and have a social life *Quad gasp...but hey maybe I just got lucky more than once.

Supply and demand basic business principle. Same can be said about market board. Buy low sell high people don't like it they can look somewhere else. Do you really think most crafters waste their time crafting to make and keep the market fair? Just like in RL it's to have a cash flow of funds.

We are talking about optional content vs mandatory content. It really has nothing to do with the story line and just gives options to FC and people so logically it makes sense that it shouldn't be to the point where it is critical. There are options for players if people want to decorate there are games like the SIMS. IF it's an FC IT makes more sense to cut them some kind of break just based on optional content involving FC perks such as airships for Diadem even though they do provide access to it by other means. All players are ENTITLED to have access which they do. It's not SE fault if people are over demanding. Besides with all the other optional content like PvP complains and such it makes more sense to address those issues before housing.

Also We are talking about spurs of player coming back when NEW content is presented, over all it dies down dramatically when most have completed it so it's dumb to over load teh servers with more instances than needed for that sake. It has gotten better over time and this time problems were fixed fasted than when HW was released.
