Blood Price feels underwhemling

The devs seem to have an irrational hatred of good AoE that I'll never understand.
Scooping up big packs of trash and blowing them all up is fun. Mindless fun sure, but still fun.
Even those that don't find it fun surely appreciate the efficiency, I just don't understand the constant nerfing of AoE across all the jobs.

Same reason why crowd control outside of Tank holding hate is frowned upon.

I was almost 100% sure they would remove BP in SB and make BW usable in and out of tank stance because BP is just so boring compared to BW.

The biggest problem I see is that BP is virtually useless in regaining mp no matter how many enemies are on you. It's sole purpose is building blood, but it doesn't even do that until 66. This makes blood price useless in any content under 66. At this point, we'd be better having BP have a passive refresh, akin to lucid dreaming, while having a 5-10% damage reduction to it. This would make it useful in lower content for players levelling drk, and I also think it would go a long way in helping BP and BW become a bit more equal in terms of refreshing mp.
Edit: not sure how this would balance out with Quietus mp return, which admittedly is way better than I thought it would be. But that's only useful in aoe pulls, whereas BP would be more single-target friendly with just a passive refresh. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Yes, that is a very unfortunate result of them shifting the purpose of Blood Weapon and Blood Price to be more of a resource management tool for Black Blood instead of MP while shifting MP management to Syphon Strike for single target and Quietus for groups.

While I get the overarching idea for the shift of resource management, it certainly has left Blood Price in a messy place and honestly pre-lvl70 resource management as a whole a bit of a mess.

As underwhelming BP is in its current state, saying that it's useless is just outright ignorant. For whatever it's worth, it's somewhat useful, albeit weaker than its HW version, when doing big pull in dungeon.

My biggest gripe with BP is probably the fact that it doesn't scale with the amount of damage you received, which makes it indeed useless vs single targets. Making the amount of MP you generate scales with damage, while also having a minimum limit on the amount of MP you generate per attack received would make it more useful vs bosses and still have it useful for trash mobs.

The problem you run into with this idea hearkens back to the misconception held by many at HW's launch that taking minimal or zero damage (due to an Adlo or other shield, for instance) prevented BP from procing. As we now know, this is not the case, as getting hit in any fashion at all even if that hit deals zero damage still procs the ability. The change you are suggesting would cause not only blinded, stunned, or slowed mobs to give us less mana, but also cause us to suffer for healers or even ourselves (with TBN) shielding us properly.

Give you less mana, how? I even specifically mentioned about the minimum limit so that it's still useful vs trash mobs.

Because it puts shields including our own in direct conflict with the ability - even with a minimum limit imposed, if you want more mana, you'll want less shielding. And with TBN now a core mechanic of our job, there's a definite conflict of interest there.

It's still possible to calculate the MP gain over the damage that should have been taken, even if absorbed by shielding.
