I'd say it's up to the player on whether they choose to micro manage or not. Yes some players do like the extra control especially when setting up macros, but there are plenty that have no issues leaving the Fairy on Sic. I'm on PS4 with a controller and occasionally I like to control the pet, though have gotten through enough content without having to do so and not suffer any problems with MP or Aetherflow management.
I would say try to dabble more in micro-managing but if it doesn't work out that's fine, as it's not for everyone and play styles vary across the board. The only handicap is not using the SCH itself effectively rather than the pet.

I never liked selene's hair buns anyways.

I've always found Selene to be of most use when playing solo or doing content with people who are less likely to take unnecessary damage (ie people who pay attention, rather than doing other crap whilst gaming). My one gripe has always been Silent Dusk. It's great having a silence that can be cast when needed & for zero cost. However, I'd like to see it have the duration increased to 2.5s (one GCD effectively) & be able to be set to sic (like embrace) even when on Obey. SCH don't have silence from any other ability to my knowledge & it's a real boon in lots of content, especially solo.

I've made another thread about this already, but i agree. Selene is in such a poor state.
-
I found a couple half decent keybinds for fairy powers, so I'm practicing manual fairy management a bit, but its a shame it doesn't save Sic/Obey preferences between SCH and SMN. I always use Sic on SMN but not on SCH.

Nothing is changing but why not lol. Many of the sch buffs from 4.05 would need adjusted and I think the fairy gauge should require 20 a tick instead of 10. I like to dream:
Posted in another thread. The change to dissipaton, creating a fairy swap that interacts with fey union, which has different effects with either fairy would enhance synergy extremely. Eos stays her powerful aoe support self and selene becomes more single target. Selene would not increase damage, because if she did, DPS would expect it over the tank at all times and Eos would never be used for fey union. Shortened list to what i feel would have the most impact.
https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/m...issipation.png Dissipation: Orders your pet away while granting you a full Aetherflow stack.
Also grants a buff that increases healing magic potency by 20%. Your next Summon or Summon II is instant cast. Buff ends after 30 seconds or when your next Summon or Summon II is cast. Aetherflow spent while in dissipation will fill fairy gauge at a rate of 20 instead of 10. Using aetherflow outside of a fairy summoned or dissipation will have no effect on the gauge.
https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/m...-Fey_Union.png Fey Union:
When active with Eos All party members within 10 yalms receive 200 potency in healing every 3 seconds . A buff is placed on all members within range increasing spell based healing potency by 10%, which ends as fey union does. Fey union remains unaffected as an ability.
While Selene is active 350 potency every 3 seconds to a single target within 15 yalms. A buff is placed on that party member reducing damage taken by 10%.
Fairys:
https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/m...0px-Summon.png Eos:
Fey illumination returned to 20%.
https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/m...-Summon_II.png Selene: Fey Charm-Silent Dusk no longer applies Silence, instead it places an 8 second magic vulnerability down on a single target and is called Fey Charm. Cool down of 90 seconds.
Fey wind buffed to 5% speed increase.
Imagine having Selene out, to increase dps of the raid. Large AoE is coming. Dissipation! Burn Aetherflow. Energy Drain. Energy Drain. Adlo spread. Sacred Soil. 60 gauge filled. Instant Summon Eos. Dissipation falls off. Massive AoE about to hit. Fey union Eos to make her a pulsing 200 potency heal, while increasing the healing potency of your coheal. You used multiple cool downs together to create a powerful effect.
Does that not just scream tactician? Scholar?

Buff fey wind to 5%
Slash the recast on get caress in half.
And do something with silent dusk.
Ì'd suggested once something similar to summoners contagion. Extend/reset duration of dots or something.
Might still seem a bit weaker than eos but the lower recast on caress could free up a role skill slot for something else.
And fix dissipation. Most useless skill in a scholars toolkit. Even more useless than silent dusk.
Make it grant full aether stacks and Insta swap fairy. Get rid of the healing potency buff cos that's just lol anyway.
Or failing that at least bring the fairy back soon as the current effect wears off. Might actually make it useable.
Edit:- as for micro managing fairies. It's really not difficult. I can do it on a controller with limited buttons (all pet commands are on the expanded hotbar) should be easy on a keyboard.
Leaving them on sic though is just bad. Nothing worse than watching wow pop dawn Covent and illumination on a pull of 3 mobs..
Should also place your fairy as much as possible instead of leave her on heal. She ignores most mechanics so can keep casting embrace on the tank while your dodging that air. If she's on heal she cant cast embrace because she's following you

Bumping! this needs to be addressed

Ability: Distract
Selene become so ANNOYING that for 10 seconds the boss is forced to attack Selene and only Selene :)
"!@#%! mosquito! Go AWAY!"
Imagine what 10 seconds of relief could mean for a struggling tank :)
In PvP, similar (SWTOR has something similar) - if the Distraction target attacks anyone BUT Selene, they do only 30% normal damage, or suchlike.

Why not just make Selene into a debuff pet. What really is the point of having two fairies that both heal... with one being significantly better anyway.
