Sometimes I do wish that all the work I put into all of my characters pooled, especially when it comes to the seasonal events. I can't stand not having some of the items on my alts (And I'm not paying for an item for an event I did... :/)
I don't imagine it would be easy to change the system though.
The latest craft/gather achievements give tools with equivalent stats to the red scrip i200 tools. That'd be a bit OP to have shared across accounts.
I'd prefer to have achievements, mounts, companions, orchestrion rolls and hopefully glamour log account bound personally. It's less data for Square to track and I look at it more as player achievements than character achievements. I'm sure there's a few achievements that might need to stick to being character bound though (ex: mgp earned per week would go up quickly with 8 characters racking up the weekly challenge log bonuses).
Account-wide achievements and cosmetic items just make sense and should be the default, but in this game I don't really care, as one character can meet all my needs and achievements barely matter anyway.
I'd like to have the option.
However, with seasonal event items being sold in the Mog Station I can't see it happening. People who have bought items for additional characters, would be justifiably upset and there would be less profit for the company.
Considering that your character can level all jobs, unlike in many MMORPGs, and the countless hours spent grinding for rare achievements, this game is definitely NOT friendly for alt characters. A decade later, it still dissuades me from investing my time into another character. I would truly love to have account-wide achievements, or at least have the option to do so.
Which is fine for you if you don't feel like the effort is worth it.
If the game was made more Alt-Friendly, then maybe you'd have a Lil more reason to consider.
But regardless of, if it is/nt, that's individual choices.
If it's achievements, or tech for raiding, RP.
or to experience/reexperience the msq. it all depends on each individual.
And many have alts that aren't in the forums.
Not the majority, but many that don't even comment, just play
