Account wide achievements

I think some achievements may be better placed account-wide than on character basis.

As example, the number of times you entered a duty but I bet you can find even better candidates.

All achievements right now are per character. Personally I'm of the opinion they should stay that way too. The game encourages us to do everything on a single character, anyone choosing to play another character should be aware that they're levelling something new so should expect to start over (I have 2 alts I play quite regularly, but 3 more I play occasionally and really like that they have separate stats).


Maybe additional "Global" achievements could be added, but we could also just add them up so...

10M gils from levequest achieve? I think that would be a good one to share, lol.
Fate grinding, dungeon grinding, hunt grinding, pretty much every achieve that asks for hig numbers to complete but would actually take 5 to 6 years to do them normally.

But then you could just stack allowances from all your characters. Not exactly fair to those using only one character.

Will be unfair if you were limited to one character and others will not. Using one or more characters will be a choice.

Considering I can get 40 characters at the price most people pay for 8, yes that's unfair.

What do you mean? Your account have special privileges we don't?

As weird is this might sound: When leveling an alt, I would prefer to start "fresh" and some achievements (thinking about the mounts for example) are hard earned - and I would like to earn them again if I actually start playing that alt-character, instead of just logging in and seeing that I've done everything already.

It's a preference. And preferences are best sorted with options - In this case, a simple checkbox in your Square Enix or FFXIV account that goes:
[ ] Shared Achievements

Simple, effective and both sides can go their merry way.

Many of the achievements probably unlock certain flags in progression.
