At least our characters move normally instead of sidling left and right or running backwards... :P

I like a hello and goodbye. The least we can do is acknowledge each other's presence.
With the frequency in which players receive temporary suspensions in this game over the most benign and juvenile reasons, I don't blame anyone for not speaking in this game outside of their FC and LS chats.
Getting suspended over using a profanity in a game which has a profanity filter set to default (which means the offended person would have had to turn their filter off to see the very thing they're offended by) is just one example.
It's almost as if people can't wait to be offended. So many just don't take the risk of even offering pointers as to not be construed as "harassment".
Agree here. I have a Bluetooth keyboard for my PS4 (Microsoft Sculpt Mobile Keyboard (T9T-0000)) and I can chat on it just fine. Only annoying bit is having to put down and pick up the controller, so I can't move quickly if I need to and am typing something out.
I have my original bluetooth Logitech keyboard/touchpad from my PS3, I had to get new keytops for it a while back, but it is still going like a champ and the PS specific keys still do what they should.
I can type one or two words one handed while still moving.
That Logitech keyboard is excellent, a pity that most bluetooth keyboards are now shrunken for tablet use, mine is a full size keyboard with a touchpad for 'mouse' use.

This is the best keyboard for PS I have found, you can still get them, but even used they are $30. It's well worth it though, a pair of AA batteries lasts for months, and the keyboard automatically goes into standby and awakens when you type.
I'd love to be more social with folks in dungeons, but I can't type and tank at the same time.
If there was a voice chat? That could work, but then everyone I grouped with would be subjected to a deluge of terrible puns, and they'd leave before the first boss.
Reasons voice chat doesn't work well;
- I don't share others taste in music.
- Others don't share my taste in music.
- Teen vocabulary is laughably small.
- There are only so many insults I can hear thrown around before muting chat.
- There is only so much abusive child speak I an endure before muting.
- Lack of profanity filters would get old in less than 30 seconds.
- Hearing my voice instead of what I imagine Kos' voice to sound like, would be jarring.
An opt-in voice chat? Like every group has a voice channel that is off by default. If you want to join it simply click a button in the party menu. If you really don't want to hear your party members just don't ever join.
