In these things, people start out with this strategy when they learn it within the first week and find new ways to get around it and make the fight more quick and efficient.
The point wasn't to develop hard content that everyone could beat when it was released. The hardcore beat it in the first week and the casuals had to work to build their characters to fit the strategy. Not that this is an issue any longer since it is only a hop, skip, and a jump to get a class up to 50. Most players who are even casual have all of their battle craft leveled now. Not having Sentinel for a "Hard" instanced fight isn't the issue as it was most likely that way by design.
