All the way from 1.0 to the coming 4.0 and beyond, it is nice to see that SE really is committed to improving things.
Thank you.

I don't think you thought this suggestion through thoroughly. Unless it's an incredibly significant upgrade I don't think this would do well for any players in either data center with their populations. Balmung+Gilgamesh regularly brought down the Aether data center during HW launch.
Not necessarily I'm afraid. Level 3 are rather large and pretty much everywhere and it's your ISP that's choosing to route your current connection to SE via Level 3. It's entirely possible that they will continue to do so the new location too. That doesn't mean that the L3 connection being used to get to the new place will be as the bad as the current one though, but as with the current L3 issues, this isn't something SE has any control over.
I appreciate this decision ^^
Can you possibly please just tell us the city? Even the state would be better than nothing. We're going to find out as soon as the servers go live anyway and until then it just causes unnecessary concern as to where they'll be and/or worrying if we're going to be affected and how badly (especially for those of us located in the Europe etc.)
I would read the quoted specifically. As level 3 has also been falsely accused by XIV players on issues such as DNS servers outside of their company's control and many cases SE hasn't publicly claimed fault of within their 3rd party provider with the DataCenter.
Voltage overloads & no physical space is a big red flag on stability. Also shows how taxed the existing servers are in general.
I'm really hope they decided on Chicago, NY, or a Texas city. As those have had some of the biggest Infrastructure and Pipeline improvements within the US, besides the physical location benefits.
Anywhere in around the mid would be fine and shouldn't hit EU people too bad for lag, there is a large amount of love for EU and Na players to play together, but if it goes to Cali then there is going to be a meltdown.
Pinging servers in locations I'm hoping for either Santa Monica or NY, or around thereabouts, NOT Austin.
Sounds great. Thanks for doing what's necessary to ensure server stability!
I would love a response to this, cause why not? It would create a more "wordless world" if the Datacenters combined and heck we could conclude that the reason it failed in 2.0 was because the datacenters/servers they were using were not equipped to handle that load but if these new servers could they have the opportunity to give all NA players the chance to play with one another regardless of what server they are on.
