[petition] PS4 framerate

Wouldn't the PS4 Pro have beter frame rate without any patch needed since it's not locked and all over the place on normal PS4? Like i go into in area and look turn the camera into the sky and it's 60fps but bring it back down and it drops again. If the Pro is beter shouldn't it just be able to run it still unlocked but at 60 more often?

By the way, unless you spend a lot of money on a new pc most people's pc can't handle idyllshire either. Mine used to run ARR perfectly but in HW it can't run some things in places like idyllshire.

The PS4 Pro has a CPU marginally faster; it's its GPU that is really improved.
Should it exist, a "PS4 Pro Enhanced" FFXIV would be 4k/DirectX11 only. Its 1080p won't be that much helped by the slightly better CPU, unless developers add an option to significantly reduce the CPU's charge on heavy demanding situations. And this could happen on the Standard PS4 as easily.

Is there a way to play at 60fps on ps4?

Games should still run better on a PS4 Pro regardless if it's an"enhanced" or not.
A far as this game goes and framerate, that is entirely up to devs
it would be nice to have a higher framerate, but the game currently runs great except like pointed out areas like Idylshire

If a game doesn't have the PS4 Pro Enhanced certification, the PS4 Pro will lock itself down to being a standard PS4. No extra power.
With currently PS3, PS4, PC and Mac, I don't know if developers have enough resources to work on giving the CPU the extra power the GPU gets - if even possible.

PS3 no longer counts, and never did really because it uses a different code base.

PS4, PC and Mac all use the same code base with PS4 specific optimizations and Mac specific optimizations. but they all branch from the same base code.

The PS4 version can hit 60fps, it's not locked to 30 or less. It varies - hence the OP's complaint.

There is a video from Digital Foundary that shows the framerate over about 5 minutes of samples of gameplay from when the PS4 version first appeared (it's seen some optimization since then and is smoother now), the frame rate varies up and down, I haven't watched the video lately but if memory serves it was floating between 25-30 in very busy, crowded areas with action and player effects and anything between 50 and 60 in solo instances or interior scenes with few other players (if any).

That said, sometimes in places like GS, when there are a crap ton of people around and all the movement and effects at pay, you can see the game dropping the frame rate. But as one of the first replies in this topic pointed out, that's true on PC as well - unless you're running high end, fully decked out, gaming rig of course...

Without this certification, the PS4 Pro will safelock itself to PS4 standard. Still can't find it but sure about it. Maybe it's just a safe way to prevent games from "acting strangely" with a different CPU clock or dual GPU, and developers can easily patch their games accordingly - and get that logo. Another "proof" of my statement (in French, didn't find it in English): it says PS4 Pro will have two GPUs and will only have to shut down the second when not needed by a PS4 Pro Enhanced game.
Thinking through this, it appears that PS4 Pro Enhanced will not necessarily fully benefit from the PS4 Pro. (At least, can happen for games already developed and patched without the resources required to fully benefit from it.)

PS3 will still get updates till Stormblood so they must keep it in mind to even the game experience between systems. Now that Stormblood is dated, they already lack of time; they won't have time for more work. Add to it that Mac version was troublesome - to say the least - and it may have absorbed more resources than they expected.

This to say that, even if I'd love to get a good PS4 Pro Enhanced version, I don't think it will happen. They would have advertised; someone there would have said something like: "please look forward to it!" already :)

You are wrong. That refers to certain multi-player games where framerate affects player competition, nothing else.

This right here is extremely wrong. PS4Pro does not have two GPUs, it's a single APU system.

Unlocked games will gain a benefit, locked games will need a patch. FFXIV doesn't use a locked framerate.

Nope, they will do nothing to the code in the PS3 client, there is no reason to, other than assets for content.

I actually cover tech and PlayPtation in particular, I've written for several news sites, and you are wrong about PS4Pro.

You realize if you're going to complain here about the PS4 you may as well also complain to Sony, right?
