(X,Y) is clear no matter where you're from. People have already pointed out numerous ways in which the letter system could potentially be confusing/unusable, whereas numbers are universal, as well as the Cartesian system.
You're just being whiny. In every thread you make, no less.
Map system is fine stop being ridiculous, it is nothing new at all nor is it hard to understand. By opening your map it even tells you your current coordinates so you can very easily follow through to find your destination just from that info by scrolling the map.
No, its actually not clear. You assume everyone in the game is educated, that may not be the case.
Those who have been taught this, may never have used it in years and may have forgoten. Some may simply not recal which is Horiontal axis and which is vertical axis?
Reguardless, everytime someone says meet me at (3, 9) I have to verify which is which with them, because even is you are I are familiar with the system, it doesn't mean they are.
It is very simple. If for some reason you forget something so basic and universal you just type in <pos> and then look at the map to see how the coords matched up.
If you still cannot get to that point, you can ask someone how it works. It's a game full of other players you know. That's the beauty of it.
What a wonderful opportunity for the game to teach them something that also translates into real life. Learning the universal system for reading coordinates. This will save them potential embarrassment in public of having to have it explained to them.
This game should be more educational I think. Like the new Pakistani Sesame Street, only for MMORPG players.
Uh, (X,Y) .. yeah.
Also, in a game with well designed worlds you wouldn't need to reference a coordinate grid because of visual references, similar to real life.
I believe Yoshi has stated that this is not possible because the new zones are more than 26 squares in both directions. He did however say that he will be making it so coordinates specify X and Y (X:33,Y:33)
This game caters to 4 countries/regions, officially. In each one of those, cartesian coordinates are taught as part of one's elementary schools. This is not optional.
Coordinates don't use operators, it's not basing something out of multiplication, division, exponents, derivatives, integrals, nothing. They're not even decimals. It's two integers, pertaining to "x" and "y'. If you don't know which is which (by way of brain fart, hopefully) just move either of the four cardinal directions while viewing your map and see which number changes (it changes in real time, imagine that!).
