Don't worry. You might. But if you never try you will never know. I was afraid to do anything beside DPS but I wanted to level all classes and jobs, so I gave tanking and healing a try. I never caused wipes with either and actually enjoy healing. Guildhests give good practice for either role. And once you hit 20 you can just grind Ifrit. Only one mob to tank. Perfect for practicing aggro management. Dunno if hall of the novice is available if you are already high level but it doesn't hurt to check.Quote:

I was about to buy FFXI, 12 years ago, so I checked what job I would choose before I start. I saw PLD and I told myself, damn, I can use a sword, heavy armor AND use white magic!? Sold.
And since then it was my main job, in FFXI, FFXIV v1, v2, v3, and probably forever. -

I won't give up on bard, because I feel like I really could like the job with practice, but it would only make me a better player to see the dungeons / raids / etc. from different perspectives. :)Quote:

I absolutely couldn't stand the aesthetic of paladin and I didn't like the sword and shield thing at the time, so I B-lined for Dark Knight for the two handed sword when I got the chance.
And no, I wasn't about to level another class from scratch to get away from paladin pre-HW. -

I used to main BRD during 2.0, but didn't like the changes the job went through in 3.0(*cough* bowmage *cough*). Soon after I discovered SMN, which I currently enjoy playing very much! \o/

everything was 50 from 1.0 so the only thing to do was play Arcanist for 2.0 and i like to heal/support.

When I first joined my first FC they needed a healer, and I played SMN at the time but they helped me gear a SCH real quick. I decided to further level my cnj (that was only 15ish) to learn healing a bit more proper and ended up falling in love with WHM, so I stuck with it.

My first class was bard and so I thought that I should have leatherworker and carpenter as well and then I started to prefer my artistic skills more.

I discovered my favorite job about a month after launch (after beating the original 2.0 story). Started and completed the game as archer/bard. In my little group of friends I was generally our healer in most games, I didn't want to roll White Mage in this game because I thought it would be as boring as it was in FF11 (mained Dancer in 11 because it was a hybrid Healer/DD, much more fun than WHM and RDM).
In the first couple weeks of playing, I made an alt hoping I could have a mule (before I knew about the patched out glitch that let you add alts as friends, only learned of it after it was patched). But I couldn't, I kept her and didn't play on her at all. When I beat 2.0 I started leveling my alt's conjurer just to try it out in secret. I was astonished how much I liked being a healer in this game, being able to do more than HEAL/HASTE ONLY and NOT GET YELLED AT was like a revelation to me (I love having a lot of utility, I like hybrid jobs). Got my alt to 50 WHM then did the same on my main.
And now my main is AST/WHM and alt is WHM :P Until Red Mage or Dancer finally get added into the game at least. lol
