Something need to be done in how tanks acquiring Provoke

IMO they should just put a message window on the quests to unlock WAR and DRK jobs that says "WARNING ! The ability "Provoke" from the Gladiator class is mandatory for some late-game content" before you accept it. That way, new players who play these jobs have absolutely no excuse for not having it, and it would be their fault for having clicked "Ok" blindly without reading the message. They could also just put it as a condition for the level 30 job quest, just like meeting the required level. "Requires level 30 - Requires the ability "Provoke" (GLD) as a cross-class".

Ooooooooooor maybe just make a taunt ability for each tank. This seriously should be the case already, it's a very basic tank tool in any game with a trinity system.

I'm not sure where I put my wording wrong when people put comment for those tank players to have gladiator level 22 as a must by calling them lazy or it's such a quick task to do and sneered at them as they don't bother to do it, but I did put my suggestion as the game should make Gladiator level 22 as a requirement for unlocking warrior and Dark knight, thus there would be no future WAR and DRK without provoke.. And the reason i'm addressing this one skill is because it is highly required in some duities, even outweight swiftcast and so on.. I have countless duties where i could clear stuffs without healer's swiftcast, or even those damage buff skills that can be covered by the existance of Echo.. So let bygones be bygones and let the future WARs and DRKs have better positions in tanking by default..

Also, let's not forget about some of this contents are past end game stuffs - means they can't be considered to be end game content anymore, some players may even step in these 8 players extreme duty for the first time, not knowing in how hard it is or what is truly required to know..

As far as i'm concern and of course with decent gears, one could always craft them in normal quality and still successfully syntesize those items, but without provoke there are duties that can't be cleared... Hence, the difference..

That could work too, but as far as i remember developer only put STONESKIN II as a new skill in a patch, like it is somehow felt like a hard decision..

I sympathize with your losses, but that time sitting down doing nothing could have been spent educating the follow player. Having him state that he understands what the abilities he needs do, how to get them, and what he should be doing next.

People will definitely disagree with this suggestion but if Provoke is this important, I don't see why not.

They could just add an extra quest in the WAR and DRK storyline (not an optional one) where a PLD from far away wishes to train you in a skill he thinks is vital to the Warrior of Light's adventures.

This could either require you to level PLD enough that you're 'ready' to learn the skill or the quest could simply explain the importance of the skill and give Provoke as a quest reward.

Just an idea.

I already did in Titan extreme when the other tank asked why couldn't he swap.. The line was somewhat "of course silly, you need provoke for that......", replying to his "i'm trying.". I dunno if the words can get to him since he's a french.. This was happened a few weeks ago and i havent met that said player again.. I gotta admit that i didn't tell that player where he could get provoke tho.. Lol.. But i did tell a DRK in ramuh ex about it and where to get it from.. Dude, which is also a french seems to not quite get it, but grasp the idea why the party didn't work out..

Also the corner i was speaking of is actually a trap door hidden by ramuh's cloak.. Ya know what eorzean's saying, underneath those cloaks there's an endless realm..

I did Ultima's Bane with one tank who didn't have Provoke.

And as a healer, it was absolutely terrible.

Many of these "hand holding" issues are solved by the community. No need for the devs to design more hand holding for every single scenario or situation in the game. Everything is in the game for you to succeed, how about a little incentive on the players part? This is part of what has been killed in MMO's since WoW reshaped the landscape. Everyone now expects every little thing to pop up and direct your every move from 1 to 60.

As others have said, you can tell a tank 500 times that they need Provoke and they still won't get it. There's guides everywhere emphasising it's importance. Every good tank will tell a new tank that they must get Provoke. It doesn't mean they're going to get it.

You can only add so much incentive for players before you have to force it on them.

I've always had the idea in my head that provoke should be a pre- lvl 15 skill (14 maybe), that way a WAR must get them. For quelling and swiftcast, these are more optional, but the jobs (like BLM) could have their own version

So much this.

The Real world is far harsher. You can get through the story fine without things like provoke, but if you really want to clear the extra content, it's time you put some real, tangible effort into learning roles, your class's potential, and endgame mechanics. That's just the way it is.
