None of the sidequests were "serious" or even felt that way. I almost feel weird that this is the content for the patch I am most excited about ... almost.

It is my hope and great wish that Scholasticate questline remains a solo act from the returning of Hildiabrand personally. I like it and I also like that we get a serious investigation over Hildi's antics.

My really wishful thinking is that we get sent back to Big Bridge and find that its finished and we get new area's to explore while tracking him down to watch Golbert piledrive him again!. I do believe that the Hildi and Giga are permentantly link.

Based on current side storys inside ishgard, the thief isn't hunting Hildi, but playing the Scholasticate questlines, I think the thief has decided who his/her true rival is, and it ain't Hildibrand.

There is so much yes to this. The scholasticate questline was too serious without any real action. Almost to the point where the investigation got boring and almost a waste of the warrior of light's time. At least in the Hildi series there was comic relief and a band of characters that were enjoyable. Its almost sad that the hildi side quest is the thing I am looking the most forward to in 3.2

Whether you enjoy it or not, it's pretty clear that the Scholisticate questline is SE's "long-runner" questline for this expansion. The fact that they're so vague about how Hildy is going to be making his return leads me to believe that he's either just going to be a cameo appearance in the Scholisticate questline, or he's going to get a one-and-done quest unrelated to the Scholisticate. I find it quite unlikely that he'll actually get a long-runner in the same vein as his ARR appearance, simply because it would be too much work to be developing two long-runners at once.

It's possible that Hildy may "take over" the Scholisticate questline and transform it into a zany romp, but honestly, if that happens I hope it's not because folks expressed their disapproval of the Scholisticate storyline and SE is switching rails to appeal to the masses. While I'll admit I enjoyed the Hildy story more than I'm enjoying the Scholisticate story, I DO still want to see where it goes, flaws and all...

I doubt he would take over the Scholisticate Side Story completely if he returns there. Most likely if Hildy returns in Scholisticate he may end up as the role Briadien had in Hildibrand Season 1 being mostly a character the story less focus on and to serve as a rival to the Briardien.

Ya he is a idiotic rival but that is what happens when Hildibrand's personality is based on Inspector Clouseau from the Pink Panther series. However, that idiotic personality is part of his charm if not his only one.

If players haven't noticed yet, Hildibrand Season 1 was basically the Final Fantasy version of a Pink Panther episodes.
