Hope dies last... but i feel the same, after those years of support i can hardly bring myself back to play this grindfest...

It had a great start, but for whatever reason it seems like they "blew their wad" with that. It's been a rehashing of the same content. I was waiting for the evolution of the game, a next step, not a reliving of last year with a different looking/named weapons and fights with the same mechanics but arranged differently and with a different sprite casting them.
The flying was great, outside of that, it's 2.0 with some different skins.
i don't think the game is dying, i'm a legacy player, did purchase the collector for the release of the v1... but i digress, i'm there for years... however, recently i feel the lack of creativity and the lack of true test.
Diadem was simply a monster party zone, what most of the player of the V1 don't ever want to see back!
hunt a fate without UI, no effort nor danger... the worst it reward too much and it was possible to do soo much better.
personal housing, one more time stuff that was promise that simply wasn't done. with a communication horrible!
relic from 2.2-3.15 are simply junk i'm sorry, the weapon in itself can become BIS but after how many month of farm and for how many time.
they need to work on an endgame content not focus on raid, maybe a group content more open than simply dungeon, they have tons of lore possibility, like the arena of Halatali.
they need to work on a true hunt system based more on the Leves... by the way, they need to really work on the leves system, it have soo much potential. by adding possibility by example of small randomized dungeon with different objective and such.
but more important.... they need to do a survey now for know what we really think, not look at the number they get, we are not number we are human...
the game is not dying, but the situation is concerning almost critical.
It's not a typical day in any game forum without a 'game is dying' post. xD
It's dying in the sense nobody wants to sit around and watch the realm be reborn deja vu style once every year so they're leaving.Quote:
i don't think the game is dying,
I don't know if there's a word for it, but I've noticed a common trend in XIV that I think is pretty funny. At first, everyone's fine with the game - they like some things, they're indifferent about some things, and they dislike some things. Overall they're pretty pleased, so they continue to sub. Slowly people start to fall off in 2.0 due to the repetitive grind of tomes, the weekly lockouts, and most importantly the wall that was T5. A lot of people were fine with the grind for tomes, some saw it as a fun activity, and a lot of people didn't raid. Some did raid, but they were fine banging their heads against T5 so they continued subbing. Time marched on, changes were made, some that made people happy, some that made people upset to the point of unsubbing. Sometimes people who did unsub would come back, sometimes they'd stay, and sometimes they'd leave again.
And here we are today. A grand majority of the people still subbed to the game are the people who have stuck through, who haven't been affected by the changes to the game or the repetition of the patch cycles. They still enjoy X, Y, and Z so they'll continue paying their sub. But... what happens when SE comes for X, Y, or Z? Will your opinion on the game start to falter? What happens when SE comes for X, Y, and Z?
It's interesting, at least. Seeing people defend and defend, never faltering because all the changes don't affect them. They're still happy! They're still enjoying the game! If you don't enjoy the game... well, just quit! And people will. SE built this game with an expected playerbase of very little, which is why their initial budget was so low and why it hasn't changed since. It will keep going downhill because they don't even care if they lose you, they'll keep taking risks as long as the playerbase eats it up and accepts it. Eventually they'll push too far, maybe they'll ease up, maybe they won't. The game certainly isn't "dead" yet because most of the playerbase who are still around are happy with what they've got. One day they might not be, but that day isn't today.
The game is totally on decay. At this rate i can see it F2P before the next expansion or else it will be dead.
