Nobody quits XI/V - they take breaks, sure - but in the end what do they have to show for it?
More farewells and comebacks than freakin' Cher.

I thought I'd seen that too... people in my endgame community in XI who just up and left and never bowed to the temptation to return. But then during one of XIV's content droughts, I decided to pop into XI and see how everyone was doing -- and they were all freaking back. Even the ones that'd been gone for years. It was bizarre.
I can see people quitting after deciding they don't like it - but after having liked and played it for a while, my anecdotal count of successful quitters lies ominously at zero, again.
I quit FFXI a few months before Promathia and never came back, unless you count playing XIV as coming back.
Though I'll be staying, I take people at their word when they say they're quitting. There is a lot not to like about this game. I chose to stay because I want to watch the metamorphosis, but I don't expect everyone will come to the same conclusion.
You are thinking of this:

the point is, people who claim to boycott stuff usualy dont cuz they are so interested in it its just them raging and trying to speak out and be heard even moreso...
even though they never follow through
and i suspect we will see the same here, at least 50% of those saying they are leaving will stay cuz they cant resist
Dude no one is quitting everyone is gonna stay and play. How could anyone quit this amazing game, as a matter of fact I bet we still have all of the half million or so people who bought the game logging in daily. They should have been charging us a sub fee since the beginning because as amazing as the game is people would have gladly paid for it!
See ya Tony. You won't be missed.
Once I finish my high school finals and find a job, I'm definitely coming back to witness the changing game to it's full potential. I'm not staying away from a game I've devoted myself such to.
Question: what's the deal with a meteor blowing up Eorzea? I haven't seen anywhere about such a catastrophe to befall our land. O.o
