There's no way there are 250 people working on the current version of FFXIV. Those people most all be working on FFXIV version 2.0 which is essentially almost a completely different game.
250 ppl... now thats dedication, too me it's obvious from the current
Producer's attitude that they got a winning concept on their hands.
And whats more obvious is that it's thanks too all the fans, Feedback, Suggestions and
by actually listening to all the fans around the world.
The proof is in that new "Screenshot" of the new UI and the pdf files with concept arts & information.
It looks like the best of everything (from most popular mmo's) and the information
given to us shows us even more proof of what will come.
So ya, they have my respect now, i suggested several things over the year since beta & there they are...
Signed gear, Housing, Mystical forests, Behemoths, Mail & Delivery system, Chocobo gear, New Classes, Snow-themed Zone!
If they can keep their promise, then the fans will be there!
So far they done just that!

They have separate teams working on separate games, they may shuffle staff around a little bit but if they are that short they would just employ more people.
FF13-V is taking so long because SE are slow ass developers.
Goes without saying, but it doesn't matter where the majority of the staff are, no point polishing a turd as they say, just start from scratch which is basically what they are doing with the 2.0 reboot.Quote:

FF versus XIII (and FFXIV) both suffered from the fact that the completion of White Engine took so long. XIV's engine had to be rushed, and versus XIII was basically sitting on the shelf waiting for the engine building team to get started on it (past the basic concepts).
Now that they're working on XIV's engine, and Luminous engine, I don't know what the situation with versus XIII's engine is. I would take a guess, though, that versus XIII's engine is completed and the production is well underway. The remaining staff is split between working on Luminous and XIV's engine. Although it seems that since Yoshihisa Hashimoto is working on XIV's engine (while he was the lead dev of Luminous before), they are fully focused on XIV at the very moment.
Since the engine should be completed by the end of 2011, they'll probably go back to finish Luminous. While 250 people are working on the game right now, that won't be the case for too long.
I guess wada was pretty pissed at the reaction to an installment of his main brand and pulled out the big guns for this. This makes me kind of think the bad launch was a good thing. Otherwise they might not have poured this much resources into this.
Have to consider they pretty much recreated in two years what originally took them five.
How is it unheard of? Most games even SP Xbox games have that many people lol.
its still nice but you could see this in the credits. Majority of them will be working on that new game, and that engine which probably isnt just for XIV. So dont think for a second all 250 are working primarally on XIV, they will be working on stuff related like I just mentioned.
lol, 250 is quite norm for an mmo.
What I'm really amazed about is how so many think it's incredible that 250 people are working on this game. It's an international MMORPG with many thousands of players. I mean, come on, seriously. This is Square Enix we're talking about
In my own estimations, I guessed the number of people on the dev team to be roughly around 300 or so, give or take.
Looks like I was only 50 off the mark. Not too bad, eh?
