So, I deleted about 100 people from my friends list and...

I define friend differently then most people that randomly invite people to friends lists.

I need to see and do content with that person 4-5 times before I will befriend them. Random Fate grid hunt or Raiding will not land you on my list.
Also the chat needs to upgrade from beyond game related topics.

As someone who just returned on Friday, after having been gone since January/February, I didn't have the expac either but I always come back. :P Not all of us are gone permanently! :)

Hmm, I mean a few were, maybe the first 40-50 were just people from the first or second fc I was in. There were lots of fcs opening and disbanding at the early times.

My definition is a little similar to yours, except if they add me, then it's all good. But usually I like to wait for a certain amount of time to pass before *I* add someone. Furthermore I don't consider us becoming close until chat gets past that point(this is getting rare). Basically, we treat our friends like we treat our RL friends.

XD I really need to get lucky and meet someone awesome during the times I play..

There's lots of good, awesome people on Balmung. Just depends on what kinda buddies you're looking for - RP, PVE, or PVP. Though I gotta admit, there's a -lot- of really **** people too.

I've been to 12 servers, there's some **** up people on all of them. :3

Well welcome to Balmung regardless. I've been hitting an issue where I notice the biggest ****er of players are from Balmung but I still love it for the RP XD

Hmm... I dun know about deleting people just yet. Many of them are just gonna till 3.1 hits. Most of the friends I have are playing other games right now and just didn't find subscribing for October to be worth anything to them. They burn through content fast, yo.

Sadly, I too have had lots of friends quit playing. I don't usually friend people very often, but the ones i do, i hold dear. The ones I lost were so passionate about FFXIV, I never thought they would quit. Even if people come back for 3.1, which i know some will, but how long till people just stop coming back altogether? This game needs some change, and I hope SE reacts sooner rather than later. I have lots of gripes with this game, but I want to see it succeed because this is still my MMO of choice.

Another Fun Fact: You shouldn't even feel guilty. I had a friend I used to raid with leave Goblin server because his new job didn't allow his time to coincide with ours. He switched servers in hopes to find a raid group. When his name became Deleted, I removed him from my FL. He ended up coming back to Goblin after about 3 months because he didn't find a good raid group and he missed his friends/old FC. He even changed names since he was gone, but retained the same First Name. One day I just randomly saw him playing TT against the Indolent Imperial and sure enough it was him, and he was back on my friends list again without me even re-adding him. This might not work for people with full FL's, but it did for me.
