So, I deleted about 100 people from my friends list and...

I was rather surprised how many people have stopped playing this game that bothered to allow me to friend them or they "friended" me.

I of course kept any friend that still played the game, but just removed all the (deleted) and the ones who appear to not have played since the expansion (if they left for 2-3 months they probably not coming back).

Anyone else played the last two years or so any having to do this when their friends list got full? It's a bit disconcerning to do. Also the friends list reloaded every time you delete one so it takes forever...

I had someone randomly add me today, no hi or anything and he wasn't a bot

I add a lot of people for crafting transactions & requests so I'm used to clearing people out.

You could always make a friend's linkshell or use linkshells to keep people you wish to talk to in there but not on your friend's list if it irks you.

Oh, I love people being on my friends list. I guess I'm just sad so many people that I played with quit the game.

Just kinda a sad process to remove all the people that quit. If I didn't, I'd be capped out at 200/200. It's not like I tried to get lots of people to add me. Mostly it was just people that were nice that I added or they added me. Over two years it starts to add up.

It is fairly easy to see who quit the game a few months back. All have to do is check if they have any jobs over 50. Also, if they have been gone for a long time, all their job levels disappear(it leaves the class levels only) when you check their details.

Them feels removing the people that quit though.

Fun fact: "(Deleted)" on your friend-/blacklist does not necessarily mean a deleted account, or even a deleted character. Those who transfer also show as such, so the people might actually still be around, maybe even playing much more than before, just somewhere else.

On topic, I've never gotten close to filling even a quarter of my friend list tbh....

I usually go through my Friend/Black list monthly. There are some people I refuse to delete in hopes that they're coming back, but it's unlikely. Friend list is pretty sparse now (just like FC activity).

Up until just the other day, I'd been hanging onto a linkshell full of friends who either stopped playing or moved to another server. (I know a few of them are on Balmung now.)
Dunno why, but it was always a bit hard to let it go.
