Your friend's connection allows him to smoothly go "..from main-tanking to rounding up all the orbs (even on the other side of the arena) and being back to tanking the boss in a 3 - 4 second window.." for "the entire encounter"? That's not a terrible connection.

I get what you're saying, but there is a pretty obvious visual difference between someone suffering from packet loss and latency issues to someone with a solid connection who is utilizing a speed hack. What I saw was the latter. For pete's sake, she grinned when I called her out on it in chat.

Should I even mention she was wearing a full set of Thavnairian glamour set at the time? This was back when the very first pieces were hitting the market for $25 mil + per piece. I'm sure that was all legitimately earned too. This was someone who is making no effort to hide abuse and yet still around and playing.

Like I said, I don't have a lot of confidence in this game's ability to remove cheating anymore.

I find it very strange that something like this can happen. With how they have explained, several times, why tracking down RMTs is such a long process, in order to avoid this exact thing, ie. not to falsely punish people, I just wonder what really went wrong there... Or if it might indeed be their extremely rigid IP policies or some such.

To be quite honest, I didn't even know we actually have any cheat countermeasures in this game...

hello all! thank you for the support, feedback and suggestions, I do have the security token app running and will do a virus scan just to make sure there's no weird stuff going on my end :)

I do understand that there are several approaches and I can only imagine that their automated system consider a looot of criterias to determine wether someone is cheating and stuff. However, (I believe) there is no such thing as a perfect system, and that I simply want to present them the counter case for their system. Who knows that maybe they need to add more criterias, tweak some, etc. There is obviously no way for me to know how they handle this in their system and I can only hope that by providing this feedback, they can use it to improve their system, and that's all I want really. And if it really is impossible to handle the corner case, maybe they should consider an approach to handle the false positive should they happen, as rare as it is.

Ah, actually this forum post is indeed a result from support. It goes from:
1. reporting to support
2. get told that it's ingame GM that can give me more detail + where I should express my concern and..
3. ingame GM told me that it is a different department that handle this kind of thing (which is understandable) and that they cannot contact them and I should make a forum post to stir a discussion and raise awareness.

I've played quite a few MMOs now and you always get people banned by accident. Recent cases where ArcheAge where the CEO, Scott Hartsman, stated that NO ONE was banned accidentally and guess what happened days later... innocent people were unbanned.

During Cataclysm I was banned by Blizzard for essentially exploiting. This was a during the notorious looking for raid introduction. Usually you were locked for getting loot after one item per week on the boss, rather like Alex, CT etc. People would get around this by their friends needing and trading it to them.

So Blizzard looked at their log and banned people who participated. Instead of looking at it more clearly they just looked at the raid and banned that whole raid. Now when I was banned I called them up because I wanted it sorted and was told to make a ticket. I made the ticket and was told my ban would stand, I was not told what I had done. I promptly phoned up but the person couldn't do anything about it but what they could do was look at the GM's notes and they told me why I was banned. So armed with that information I made a new ticket and get the response that yes they know I didn't take part in the exploit but just because I was part of the raid I was guilty by association. Now this raid, my first ever LFR, and I was thrown together with 24 other people - who I also had no contact with - got my account banned with me doing nothing.

I should have pursued it but just cba at the time. Basically MMO companies can do whatever they want because there's no specific laws in any country to ensure they treat you fairly. You pay for a service and they withdrawn that service without reason or 'due process' and they don't refund you.

Sad thing is you will probably never find out the exact reason since SE has notoriously terrible customer support. It would seem to me they would be more forthcoming with their customers especially if they accuse one of something.

this happen to an fc mate of mine, thing is fopr botting and cheating you have to be reported on. And i know tonberry is notorious for bot witch hunting, alot of ppl assume ppl are bots more so in north thanalan. If you did any north thanalan fate farming chances are someone reported you for botting, which is supposely notorious for it.

It's unfortunate that this happened to you. But are you telling us everything? You haven't done anything that would deem suspicious? I am not accusing you of actually cheating, but rather just thinking outside the box. Maybe it's something you've been doing as a pattern, or maybe it's a program in the background you've been running. Or maybe someone is just out for your blood and been reporting you nonstop.
