Wow, that fixed it for me. I hate the default font so I am a little sad about this, but hopefully SE fixes it soon. THANK YOU.

Thanks everyone^^. Well it might be a minor cause, because it only happens on certain settings on the configuration.

Problem: The game client crashes when it tries to load up the "text" description on some Maps and Weapons.

Cause: When changing the default fonts to any Windows system fonts, causes the game to crash. Changing language other than English when using Windows fonts, will not cause the game to crash.

Workaround: Setting to use to default font (uncheck box) instead of Windows system fonts will sort it out.

Hopefully this info. can reach the Devs.

This fixed not only my newly-acquired "caster weapon mouseover" crash, but also the longstanding crash when attempting to accept or view the Imperial Devices (Gridania) quest information.

Not sure if this is related to the problem you're all having but my game is crashing whenever I access the Arms vendor in Limsa Lominsa and select "Disciple of Magic Arms"
