The vast majority of his post was dramatically stating how SE screwed us by resetting our progress while lounging around their dark laboratory maniacally rubbing their hands together like Mr. Burns. They raised the fricken level cap. Did people think we were gonna be crafting Kirikimu leathers with our Lucis post-expansion? The main gripe in his post is about the reset. Not the lack of recipes, not the favors and not the red scrips. The reset itself was hardly cloak and dagger and if people were shocked that everything they did in 2.x expired, they probably should have paid more attention.

Perhaps you dont remember, but I remember the OP mentioning fully melding the i150 set in anticipation of the red scrips and new recipes being introduced. This leads me to believe that what he means is not physically reset, but spiritually: crafters were lead to believe they could spend their time crafting in this game. Then that priviledge was taken away from them. Or reset, as he calls it.

All of the time you spend years of believing you could enjoy this game just gathering or crafting, or mainly do either instead of exclusively; all that time is now worthless. You used to be able to make things of use with a small or medium time investment; now you spend a lot of time for..nothing at all.


Maybe its just me reading too much into the OP, but as I see it it isnt that hard to see at all..

I think a reset would be sending your classes back down to Lv1 and taking your gear away. Simply adding further gear and level progression onto what is already available is not a reset, it's an expansion.

I guess it's a bit like getting an iPhone 5. Then they release iPhone 6 and your phone isn't the best one any more. Things move on like that. You don't have to keep upgrading if you don't like it.

Just try to enjoy your time in the game. Think of it more like an experience than creating something of value. The items you make have no real world value and some day the game will shut down and you won't have any of them, but nobody can take away the experiences you had and the friends you made.

Its called a reset because everyone suddenly has the same options for starting anew. You can buy the level 55 crafting gear in Moghome, meld and use that to make the level 60 no star gear, and then meld that (a lot), acquire the materials somehow, and make the 2 star gear. What you had before (i55 green class-specific crafting gear, BiS Artisan's set, or anywhere in between) is no longer relevant.

this is like me complaining it's unfair that I have to learn the new raid, since I learned the old one.

Not at all. You're a BRD, right?

Imagine having to suddenly raid as a healer, get Healer Tokens, raid as a tank and get Tank Tokens, then trading both of those in for access to another raid, that drops Bard Tokens, which you trade in for your Bard gear. Now, if you're proficient at being a tank or a healer, that shouldn't be too much of a problem, should it? If, however, you're good at DPS'ing but bad at tanking and/or bad at healing, then you have a problem. The same issue arises for Crafters who are not good at both Botany and Mining.

Oh, did I mention that the Bard Gear you're aiming at with that is barely better than the Esoterics gear?

The complaints about favors in particular, but about the desirability of 2 star crafts in general, may be somewhat exaggerated but are not invalid.

Not to invalidate your attempt to try and help people understand the problems but Your example is miss leading and neglects the fact that crafters can buy everything, you can't compare Raiding to Crafter because currently Raiding offers no way to use money to cover your progression.

Then what are sale runs? Just because Alex Savage isn't sellable right this moment doesn't mean groups won't be doing it in the near future. A1 and A2 will for sure be sellable once groups gear up. And I don't know about you, but finding anyone to sell favor items is like pulling teeth.

Did you think you could be at the peak of crafting only 1.5 months into the expansion?

The difficulty of getting red scrips, and the arduous grind in crafting and gathering is meant to be that way, so everyone doesn't have all the best stuff right off the bat.

Imagine if everyone could do Alex Savage and get full 210 gear.
Do you really think people would hang around for months waiting for 3.1 to drop better gear? NO. (If SE was even planning on adding better gear)
That is why it takes a long time to get the high end gear.
That is why there is such a thing as esoteric caps.
And that is why the grind for red scrips is there. Red scrips are your Alex Savage runs for crafting and gathering.

I did say currently, in the same way that eventually once people will gear jobs eventually and then sell runs The same problems that persist with people selling items from favors/tokens once people have their own gear made they will sell the excess.
So really the conclusion is things will be more reasonable with time, because if the two things are comparable then raiders have already been experiencing this for awhile, not good enough or not proficient to win it yourself? eventually someone will sell it to you.
Not proficient in gathering/mining? eventually someone will sell to you when they no longer need it.

I feel your pain at trying to get people to sell items but at the moment I think one of the largest problems with trying to get people to sell favor items is not just because the system sucks (which it does), but its because people are aware that it is going to change, SE has already told us they are going to make adjustments so of course no one is going to spend a favor from this weeks tokens because it would be inefficient, you are going to get less of a return to use a favor this week than wait for the changes in the future.
