Petition Against Ifrit Weapon Designs

Also since I'm assuming the weapons from future primal battles will relate to the primal, do you honestly think all the weapons will look like this? Titan may have some bulky weapons from his encounter, but from something like say, shiva, I think the designs might look a bit more elegant. I'm sure Shiva wont have huge horns.

Well for example, look at Final Fantasy XI. The games been around for so long and they are still coming out with fantastic items and weapons that are unique or modified enough to be unique. They also still retain their realism and sophistication.

People complain about the reskins because they are so obvious. They are also not well thought out. If the Dev staff from XI can keep holding their own then I expect the new Dev team for XIV to uphold the same quality level.

Items in XI dont take as long to make like they do in XIV.

There's quite a few design directions to choose from. Even these weapons would be fine if they toned down on the designs a bit, especially on the bow...and the knuckles. The glowing part is hardly much of an issue, although it certainly emphasizes the real issue.

Now they're simply unnecessarily big and bulky, perhaps in order to appeal to the type of audience that thinks the bigger and flashier the better, regardless of context.

There is still the same design process that takes a TON of man hours to go through. It isn't as simple as your thinking. Their Dev tools are different and the graphics are more intense however that does not warrant whether something takes longer or not to produce.

When something is designed correctly there are specific steps needed. These steps involve discussions, hundreds of sketches, initial concepts, several meetings, and equal time making them 3D. This is how the professional world of design works or should work.

Design is never a fast process and if it is then it is wrong.

They could have made a new sword shape or something and used a texture having to do with Ifrit (Lava or something) in a smart way. (EDIT: Or maybe a weapon with a red blade) Maybe a different material for the sword. They didn't have to take the same old curved sword (which they are using too much now for endgame) and insulate it with Ifrit matter.
