Sure they still lost players (3 mill I think) but most companies just go "boo hoo" and make us move on. That little gesture is enough to cement loyalty in their playerbase. Despite WoW taking that 3 mill dip, people still freaking play it! And it doesn't happen at every launch. WoTLK, smooth launch. Cata, and MOP, also smooth launches. BC was their first one and it had a rough point. GW2's early access was waaaay smoother than this and they have a love/hate with their player base.
We get things get boggled down. Things break. Queues and what not. What we don't like is when no one says anything and expects us to lie down and take it. It's natural for us get mad and frustrated. Gamers have been pushed around a lot, get blamed a lot, and companies just keep doing things to we either love or hate. So as for whining. Well guess what. It happens in every game. (except Candy Crush. Does anyone get mad at Candy Crush?)
