ITT musical ignorance is being punished
Yeah, initial issue resolved. Now I just need to know why I don't recognize the theme from the earlier games I've played (Been playing since FFX).
*Begins YouTubing...*
Ok, starting to get it now. Found it in XII (that was the easy one) but I can't pick it in either Tactics Advance, X or XIII, meaning I can only find it in two games since FF hit the Playstation 2 (about when I started gaming), including this game.
So either it's not as obvious to a new-school player or someone needs to point it out to me in the more recent games.
Final Fantasy games that don't have the old 'swords, scorcery and castles' appearance to them tend to not use the standard Final Fantasy Theme tune, possibly because it may not fit in with the more 'modern/futuristic' theme of the game. Games such as 7, 8 and 10 commonly possessing their own personalised theme to better suit their visual appearance.
Example:
FF7 - Highly technological futuristic theme with fantasy style
FF8 - Visual style closer to modern real-life appearance
FF4 - Airships, magical swords, castles and knights
FF2 - Swords, scorcery and castles
As far as I know this is the standard way they go about choosing their 'mascot' music for each Final Fantasy game.
Understandable since starting with X Uematsu had a diminished involvement in music composition (and composed zero music for XIII since he was working on this game).
The main theme was used in XI, but I think its first appearance was the final cutscene of the "Crystalline Prophecy" add-on scenario.
