Have you ever seen any opening for any japanese game, like ever? They always contain tons of spoilers.
They are typically also quite meaningless for new players since they dont know the characters, or how to interpret whats being shown.

So Square Enix decided that the only people they wanted to see the eye catch for their expansion are people who've already beaten the 2.55 MSQ.
Interesting. Didn't know SE hated sales.
You literally couldn't play 1.0. New players have to play the 2.0 MSQs to access 3.0. They will already know the end of that story before they get to it. How is that not bad?
Expansion trailers are usually to hype you up for the new content in the game, whether you're coming into it fresh or are a vet. They're not supposed to turn people away from playing their original game to get to the expansion, or turn them away from watching the trailer completely because of spoilers. They didn't need to put the end of the 2.55 MSQ in there, it could've been purely Ishgard/Dravanian stuff. There was no need. At all. Other than them being lazy and not wanting to come up with actual, new things to showcase. The preview for the thing was better than the thing itself.
Well, how would the explain then showing the bit later in the trailer with Ul'dah? That whole plot is going to play an important role in Heavensward, it's the catalyst for Heavensward, its why the WoL heads north, why would it be shoved under the carpet?

These already existed :P
This is true, and that's why I never watch those until after I beat the game.
However, Heavensward's "opening" is not just that - it is also supposed to serve as the primary trailer and crowd-puller for the game.
FF14 wasn't even on my radar until the "End of an Era" trailer was released. It sold me on the game.
However, if it was preceded by an ominous spoiler warning, I wouldn't have watched it, and likely never bought the game.
This is what so many of you fail to understand.
SpookyGhost is the only one who "gets it" so far.
Seriously?
They've been putting spoiler warnings about this reveal for weeks, dude.
You are the stereotypical complainer.
