Raise, whats the point....

And here I thought this would be an intelligent discussion about the untraited cross class version of raise being pretty useless (it is). Battle raise is awesome. Cross class out of combat raise is pretty stupid when you can just return and skip weakness.

Could MAKE it an intelligent discussion about the untraited cross class version of raise being pretty useless. My PLD is SO jelly of my SMN. :x

And don't forget the pointless raise potions . . . .

I use raise plenty as heals. When I'm healing I raise party members because them being alive makes my run go faster. If you die from a misjudgment and my swiftcast isn't on cd, I'll rez you np. If there's a delay its because I'm healing an mt or someone else and I'm waiting for my swiftcast to be off cd from rezzing someone else, or I'm completely out of mana from rezzing numerous times. It's also hard to rez when I have hate and am getting beat down from an uncontrolled mob. Keeping my living party members/mt alive is also a priority over rezzing you. However, if people are repeatedly dying from being too lazy to dodge aoe's or if the other healer is dying from watching our group getting picked off while in cs because dpsing during the wrong times is more important, I might let another group deal with rezzing them. I've gone thru all my mana as SCH/ WHM rezzing lazy chars or people who want to blatantly ignore mechanics and at some point I decide I'm not going to waste my mana anymore.

Yes I'm sure Akh Morn, Flame Breath or Flatten would only KO someone in real life.

Though I agree, you can't mix game mechanics with 'situations'

When I play SCH I raise all the time even in the 24 man content, I find myself raising people outside my immediate party.

However a trend that I do see is people AFKing with the raise icon then just cancelling the raise and porting to wait AFK outside the fight... (This happens more than people not getting a raise, tbh)

There is a level of "WTF" that can be used to determine the difference between a troll post and a real post. Someone not understanding the benefits of one of the most crucial healing spells in this game and many other MMORPGs.

Therefore I say let's not feed the troll and let this thread die :)

I primarily play damage dealer. I've got Conjurer close to level 30. I also have a level 50 Scholar on one character (though I don't use it 'cause I have no clue what in the blue hell I am doing). Knowing this, if I do not KO in the middle of a boss fight, I will release over accepting a Raise for two reasons: I'd rather NOT have the Weakness debuff for 1 minute and I'd rather NOT waste the healer's valuable MP. The only time that I will release during a boss fight is if the boss is down to 1-2% health.

To summarize why I'll release over Raise:

1. I'd rather not have the debuff (especially if I feel that the risk is high that I'll KO again very quickly after the rez)
2. Raise/ Resurrection costs a metric butt load of MP
3. There are more valuable party members to keep up than to risk bringing me back
4. Raise/ Resurrection takes a long time to cast if Swiftcast is not available.
