I dont expect any type of epicness on that scale from this game. I would LOVE to be proven wrong though.

It's not solely the quote. I think of how they're always referring to "cost of implementation" towards so many basic things XIV does not have. Large scale battles like that would be exponentially more costly and apparently they can't afford whatever resources are necessary to add things like a search function. XIV fans can be glad to know they'll add that---eventually. But for large scale battles? Yyyyeah right
Crafters ... in battle.
GENIUS!
Crafters in battle is the act of sheer brilliance that got us these shitty faceroll missions...
Yoshi-P never said there won't be large scale PVE - he actually said things are in the works. What he did say is that this kind of Dynamic Content is a little out of the scope of what is possible with their servers.

While I feel that I don't need these crazy over the top battles all the time (don't feel its necessary for the lore or feel of the game, like that epic war scene we have in the Prerendered cutscene a fight like that would need to be like the END of a expansion and would be worthly). I just feel it would be nice to know if these mechanics are even able to be made into this game with the way the servers and game engine is structured. One thing I don't want in this game is bosses without some interesting mechanics that are just secrets we will never figure out or dps burn. I like multistaged fights, kinda like in XIII and other FF series games.
Sadly just looking at their UI, while its not crazy, it subtly awesome and clean. Lots of important info that is pretty standard. I don't like clunky, I like options. And Full UI Scale helps a lot to make overly large icons to be smaller or to your preference.
Wish that GW2 wouldn't keep getting pushed back. But then again, look where we have been and are now with XIV lol. I'm telling you, if things are going as good as they should be with GW2, it's going to surpass WoW. It HAS to.
Cost of implementation doesn't mean lode or stress on the engine or servers.
Cost of implementation means: Dev time comsumed: Concept > art> assets > coding > testing > balance > patching > payoff.
At this point of time there are many things that need to be fixed at the core of the game. So to implement fluff like Large PvE battles the cost of implementation is too high compared to say the fixing of battle regimen, or refurbishing crafting.
Systems that are in place are 1) easier to rework and 2) cost less 3) may need to get fixed first in order to add new, better and more exciting content.
So does spending 6 months making large scale PvE available in FFXIV make since if : Battle isn't working, if battle regimen doesn't work right, if the party mechanics don't work correctly?
NO!
Fix what needs to be fixed first, then look into creating new content, because it won;t be enjoyable with current systems/mechanics.
Here's a bit of a cleaner video of that boss. It's still off screen but not shaky.
