Some comparison, the ashes are your tokens, they can be traded for fireworks and seasonal gear, as for useful gear from seasonal events, I'm still using my Silver Usagi Kabuto from the new year's event as crafting/gathering gear. (It's more than adequate for ranking up)

In summary, you are whining about a summer event in FFXIV that is really no different from your precious summer event in WoW in terms of objective and claiming rewards. You are also complaining about a lack of seasonal gear that is useful, even though these events are more about breaking the monotony of the daily routine rather than aquiring gear that makes god himself bow to you in reverence...

You have implied that because you don't like the event, no one else does, and that the event is fail. (Nirvana Fallacy)
Personally, I've been enjoying it, and the wallpaper for completing the event is a nice perk as well.

One thing they could do with holiday events is introduce new raid zones.

Like for Halloween they could give us a haunted castle, full of Halloween themed monsters and decoration. It would be heavy on the skeletons, ghosts, bombs (recolored to look like jack-o-lanterns), and goblins in kiddie Halloween costumes. At the end we would discover a trio of Lalafel necromancers are behind the haunting and we have to strategically pick them off while dealing with their invincible zombie bodyguards. Once the event is over, remove the Halloween theme and adjust the zone to become a permanent raid with different challenges and loot.

For Christmas, we could get a frozen ice cavern where the evil Goobbue Claus (giant goobbue with a white beard and Santa hat) is hatching his sinister plot to ruin the holiday by making exploding presents to deliver all over Eorzea (..or something) . The goal would be to defeat his Kobolt "elves", shut down the bomb factory and eventually face Goobbue Claus himself. When the event is over, remove the Christmas theme and make Shiva take up residence inside the cavern.

I'm not sure what kinda of feat in programing all this would take, but it would make for some damn fun and memorable holiday events as well as lasting content afterwards. In addition to new events, the holiday themed instances could be re-opened with new rewards the following year.

I think the current event is pretty fun but the 1001 bell events that are soon going to start to loop from the end of this year I could do without. They need more stuff to actually do like the bomb event.

XI events are nice too because they're all so different.

That's a lot of words to say "I don't like Japanese games and should probably go back to WoW since I love it so much."

I honestly appreciate the fact that you're interacting with the NPC's in more than "Take sword, insert into face." I mean, one of the more entertaining WoW quests was that one where you threw bears onto the trampoline in Hyjal. Then, you know... you went back to stabbing stuff. I'd like if they expanded on what they're doing here, with more interaction that just, you know... stabby.

I edited the old post to erase the my rebuke to getting flamed in a non flame post so it wouldn't spread past what it already has. Yet you still keep coming back and posting which makes you look like a troll with groupies.

Cold hard statistics makes people open their eyes and it surely opened yours. Number of players do matter, heck go back and look at FFXI's number of players and it is also an 8 year old MMO, it never nearly came as close to WoW's. I am not saying by any means make this game like WoW. I was originally using WoW's holiday events as an example. My point was they need to be way more in depth and include more activities and maybe even an optional boss fight that gives us a chance to get a piece of gear that is decorative and semi useful on something other than a level one class. My lowest level DoW/M is 20.

I have made attempts and fail to understand how it is fun and gave up trying. No point it was extremely boring and dull. It reminds me of the FFXI holiday or w/e event with the silly dancer girl where you spam emotes, like that one it lacks anything that makes me want to participate in. Sure I give them a +1 for making us not ring some dumb bells but at least with the ones that you rang the bells you got materials where you had to have a crafter work their magic to get you an item. They could have combined the two aspects of the holiday event, added in an boss that drops special fireworks and more craft materials for the swimsuits and there you have it an event that is actually worth my time to participate in. Make the crafted bathing suit in the end be as good as the level 10 or 20 or w/e level the new underwear is, so you don't have to take a hit on defense and what not. Maybe even add a stat to it or something that makes it special other than being town gear.

Atleast this way everyone is involved and using their respective classes to achieve a goal. Heck it would be cool to throw something in there that the DoL could gather something or another or do something other than dance and emote at an NPC. This would make all classes work together in a common objective and make everyone happy in some way or another.

I personally enjoyed this summer event, and it made me get in touch with some nice people. Im fairly new to FFXIV with about 1,5months of gametime so far. Coming here from WoW after 5-6years.
The summer event in WoW felt way more grindy. Daily quests in order to collect 50-100 tokens to buy seasonal gear/items just gets so boring and for the boss WoW puts in to kill just makes people queue up to kill it over and over, with almost no interaction with the other players in the group thanks to the Dungeon Finder pairing you up with some nice, but mostly obnoxious people.

Getting new gear to improve ones character is ofc nice, but WOW just feels way to gear focused to my liking. I couldnt pause to even enjoy completing my full Tier 11 heroic gear for my DK only to have Tier12 and higher rated gear make em all pointless all over. Even the very easy and boring questline with Thrall threw a shiny new epic cloak at people. Just for a 20min quest.

I prefer the more lighthearted enjoyment I get from FFXIV and wont go back to WoW even if FFXIV ends up the worst possible way and gets shut down.

People all have different likes / dislikes, and it will always hit or miss with some players.
