The absurdity of the logic your using does. Simply going from your OP anything and everything someone can possibly feel compelled to have, do, see or want falls under the realm of "mandatory" and "not optional".

No. Coils and EX primals are progression CONTENT, not fluff that makes no difference to your game if you have it or not. Apples to Oranges, my friend.

When it relates to the game that they're paying monthly to play, yes, it is mandatory.

I don't even really want metallic dye colors, but it's clear they're expanding the types of items they're willing to charge people extra for, and it's only been two patches.

It's not a good thing, and it's making me wonder if it's worth sticking around just biding my time for the straw that breaks the camel's back.

I hope you realize that not everybody cares about Coil and EX primals. I hope you realize that not everybody cares about "progression" content, and that they prefer to take the game at their own pace.

Nobody "needs" to do Coil. Nobody "needs" to do EX primals.

Some good game with Content and Fluff is Counter Strike Global Offensive.

In CSGO all of the player have access to all guns and equip, but for special
skins you can buy on the steam market or wait for luck that a chest is dropped.

I would rather have a response so I can decide whether I want to keep playing this game, or if I want to leave it.

Leaving us in the dark about this, especially springing the Eternal Bond bit on us at the last minute, is absolutely disrespectful.
