I said that the people I was working with were being obnoxious, saying stuff like "It should be obvious how to win the battle" so I was hardly in the wrong. I never treat other players with such distaste unless they just suck outright, even then I'm not rude. It like some players just want things to go their own way and when it doesn't they end up getting rude.

Did you tell them you are new beforehand or did you remain silent when being asked? I don't deny wth your opinion. However, if you remain silent, then it is not so wrong of them to expect you to know at least the basic mechanic of the fight, let alone following their way, it is partially your fault for not saying anything. People tend to be more forgive when you say it outright that you are new and mess up, rather than remain silent, then mess up the fight, speak from my experience.

One thing I will admit being in the wrong about, and just realizing now, is that my armor may be a little underpowered, and I haven't had a chance to switch to white mage yet. I do take responsibility for that part in losing or whatever. It is sometimes hard to tell what armor will be sufficient for battle sometimes, but I think if I stick to level 30 dungeons or less for the time being, I should be fine.
I do still think there is quite a lot of rudeness in game, and I've read evidence of this online. I guess it will just take me to level my player a bit more and I should be fine. But thanks for the advice anyway.
On that particular battle, I didn't say anything straight away, because I thought the battle would be a bit more straight forward than it was, but I addressed it when I realized I was losing and the team was losing. I said "What are we doing wrong?" and asked what I needed to do to kill the monster. That's when they said "It should be obvious" without actually telling me anything. The actual battle is the one where the monster knocks you off the ledge and it kills you instantly. Like I said, I was probably too underpowered to do the fight, but wasn't expecting some of the rudeness regardless. -

With all due respect: Don't take it personally, they said it just of anger of many wipes without understanding why.
1/You did not say anything at the start, so they think you are not new to the fight, and that you know what to do to efficiently end the fight. They don't ask you to follow their way of doing things but they do expect you to know what to do for yourself.
2/Here, instead of questioning : "What are we doing wrong?", note the word "we", as a matter of fact, it is not you AND they making faults, it is mainly you,who made the faults. So we, just trigger the spark of anger in them because you assumed we, the whole party, was doing wrong. Next time, maybe, try approaching with " What can I do to help?". Don't use the questions start with "we" if it was only you who did wrong.
3/It is a good practices, on any Dungeon in MMO is what level is the dungeon or what ilv the loot drop in the dun is the gear lv you want to have when running the Dun. So if you are running a Dun for character lv 50 ,you should wear ilv 45, any gear of ilv lower than ilv 45 considered under-geared. So take note of that and prepare yourself next time beforehand.
Long story short: Say it if you are new. Don't ask question "What did WE do wrong?" But instead "How can I/we do better", given you are the one who did wrong. Prepare yourself better once you enter in any Duns.
It is the combination of "Fail expectation" (expect you to know the fight but not)+ "Your False assumption" (What did we do wrong?) plus your gear ilv was under-geared, results to the hostile from them towards you. It is not nice, I admit but it is understandable. Later on, when someone else who do the same thing to you, you will also get angry. Some people release their anger by showing their hostile, some just remain silent, and leave. To avoid all of that trouble, it starts with you first.
Fix: "It is a rule of thumb" to "It is a good practice" to avoid misunderstanding, "30" to "50" due to some unknown reason. -

Uh... you get a pretty noticeable message when someone is new to a duty and you will get a bonus so there is little doubt they knew SOMEONE was new.

This is completely false... before 50 your gear will almost always be lower than your character's level and dungeon drops are only slightly above in item level. Gear drops are there to improve your character when you do the dungeon at the intended level.Quote:

Before 50 your gear should all be within 5 levels of your character level with the exception of accessories which aren't upgraded as often and in that cause you just upgrade whenever there are any new ones available. -

I know you would frustrated over the one who do not listen or seems not to listen. But do not forget we are all people sometimes word would not be enough there things like delay time, lag and most of all personal factor like stress and panic should some of these kicks in it will mess up the performance. If you do not have space for these thing to happen and try to make people calm and relaxed and not panic as much as possible wipe will be happen a lot. Please remember your 1st time running these content, those who ran for the 1st time will experience there 1st run would as much feel the same or worse. Please keep in mind that no one would like to be hinder to the group excepted those who like to troll around.Quote:

You just repeat what I just said :)...Remember the time where people complaining about using SB Accessory in the lv 50 Duns? Men, I got hated for wearing a full set of ilv90 Armor, and my Accessory all ilv 55, running WP. I got so much hate up to the point now SE has to put a ilv restriction speed for SB gear.You know why people complained? Because they think you are a jerk for wearing SB gear, and being under-level. -

I am not wasting my time and effort to bang myself against the wall if I know it will never break ( having no progress). I bet the same go for everyone here. And yeah I know banging myself against the wall is pointless but that is the closest example I could think of to describe the moment when you teach a newbie. -

I usually hover at around 4 ilvls under my actual level even with the absolute best gear I can find on the market/dungeons until I reach lvl 50.Quote:
