Urgently Change your Approach SE

Even with a PTR, I feel very strongly that Yoshi doesn't really care what we think a lot of the time... he sticks to his guns on everything! He jokes about or makes light of the things that bother us rather than asking how he/they can improve or do better.

I feel the Housing debacle is just going to turn into another thing they ignore more & more over-time so we can't have our way again.

I see this pattern of appeasing us with a response, deflecting the issue, & then biding time til we've quieted down then never changing it (e.g. Atma).

Doesn't help that the response is usually so vague causing us to argue, "well, he alluded to it working as intended so..." or "well, technically he didn't promise this or that" or "he meant this so deal with it & stop whining!".

Rate & rush are two very different things. They're producing content at a solid rate, but they're pushing certain content to Live while it's still in a poor state or lackluster implementation.

Also, with regards to Atma, some people spend 50 hours & have just 2 while others get all 12 in under 10 hours.

Many people will practically never progress beyond Zenith for this reason, it's just a sad reality really.

Despite how pessimistic my advice sounds, I'm actually pretty darn happy with the game right now. I'll never, ever like FATES though. Ever.

everyone is like how much like ff7 gold saucer will it be like. heck even i am like that i know i will be disapointed when i find out i can't ride that ferris wheel in the art they drew.

i mean will everyone be up in arms if we aren't given an arena to fight in like ff7? will people be mad if they don't have a haunted house?

the more you expect it to be like ff7 the higher your chances of being upset it isn't gets bigger.

I've never been happy with the way SE implements stuff. From my perspective, they seem to take a decent/good idea and just butcher it with needless complexity and grind. The negative of the patches often seems to overwhelm the other good stuff that they add. Some of the things that bothered me from patches:

Glamor Prisms - For something that should have been a simple drag-and-drop extra tab we instead get over 30 new items centered around glamoring. I shouldn't need to make a freaking shopping list to change my character's appearance. Once I finally get my HA Boots, I plan to change my overall outfit, but that is going to be inventory management hell as I try to overwrite glamors with items that have already been glamored.

Housing Round 1 - There was certainly a good deal of sticker shock on the prices of houses. This was back when gil was much harder to make and small houses were smaller than an inn room. At the time, I was only netting 200-500 gil/week. Needless to say, the millions the small house cost seemed like quite a rip-off.

Housing Round 2 - What we expected and what we got were two completely different things. There was no word on any changes or that what we expected was off.

Frontlines - Locking your team to your grand company was a terrible idea. Most people chose these fairly arbitrarily, or based on whatever their starting town was. This means friends may not be able to join together unless one of them changes GCs.

Atma - becuz grinding level 5 FATES is fun yo! I'm sure everyone who has gone through that remembers the dissapointment of finishing the atma slog only to realize that all they got was a different color weapon, and a new grind, although slightly more interesting. Even then as if the atma grind didn't make us do enough, the books have FATES that often take hours to appear. Who at SE thinks alt-tabbing with the zone map pulled up is good game-play?

Hunts - As a raider, I think these were the absolute worst thing to happen to the game, even ignoring that, they were implemented in the worst possible way. All SE had to do was look at how bad FATES got when atma first released to be able to predict the zerging that would have happened. They have also killed every single other aspect of the game. I used to join random PF learning groups to help people clear stuff they were stuck on, but those rarely happen anymore (Titan X was my favorite).

More often than not (Specially if you bother to watch the Live Letters), it feels like Yoshi and their team are totally disconnected.
They say they use the forums as feedback source but I am highly doubting they truly are and even if they were, it wouldn't be the best way to gather info.
If they're going to continue to copy WOW, then at the very least try and copy their testing process and add a PTR.

People don't test on PTR, they play PTR to see content before everyone else.

I absolutely LOVE this game, but the OP is right in the respect that SE have promised things that they either didn't deliver at all, or just didn't seem to put any effort into when they did (leaving us with yet more of an "unfinished" feeling).

Overall, I don't think we (on the whole) give enough praise to the huge amount of time and effort that actually goes into making a game like this.

That said, there is a lot lacking in certain areas. Pricing aside, Personal Housing could have been a whole lot more "personal". With houses to suit each race (size wise, at least) for a start. And in a completely different area to FC Housing.

I had a personal disappointment with the Easter event rewards. Egg hats. Really? It's Easter. Bunny ears (no, not a helmet) or chocobo hats, or something!

And are we EVER gonna get dyeable swimwear!?

Chocobo Dying has been needlessly complicated.

If they never progress past zenith it is on them. I hate atma with a passion and have always said the drop rate should be higher. But regardless of the pain in the rear it is, it is 100% doable. That is the reality of it really.

Atma grinding was completely idiotic. And the books are worse. I've given up on the whole thing, to be honest.

Chocobo Training was a major disappointment. The videos left us with the impression they would be something far more interactive. Instead I just click to feed them and get a cut-scene.

The adding of new hair styles have been very few and fair between.

And every time they give us some new gear for the purpose of glamouring, it's ridiculously hard to make and/or afford.

The books were far far better in my opinion. Even so I've been working on a second set of atma for NIN and have gotten 9/12 in a few weeks time. This is mostly because I haven't been farming every day I was on.

Still don't see the issue with chocobo training. With the increase in choco leveling it was a way to speed up the process. SE didn't have to give it to you, it was a QoL addition that people are honestly taking for granted.

You can't please your whole player base.

I suppose they could bring 2.0 back where every player literally got everything in the game just for logging on and playing for 1 hour a day.
