Why can't we have a dancer class? And why can't we expand on the bard?

I think you're forgetting Ifrit EX. I love XI's version of dancer (dual wielding daggers, heal dances are instant but have cooldown and cost TP instead, has a combo point mechanic like wrath that lets then convert it back to TP or other effects) but imagining that kind of healing dancer in ifrit ex, well, I can't imagine it going well. Now that I think about it, there's T7 too? I'm sure there's more. The idea of a melee healer in this game is starting to sound implausible...

Throwing daggers maybe? I don't think a 25 yalm long whip is a usable weapon.

I don't get why they wont add something if it's complex... For the most part, you do not need to maximize your Jobs rotation for casual content, that is only for endgame content where you usually have the complexity of fights as well, so it's already content the "simple" wont be doing anyway...

Then there's tanks. Tanks aren't exactly complex, but their role already puts the majority off (hence the lack of tanks); people are put off from tanking, yet you still put tanks in the game... Tanks are required but complexity isn't? Well, sure, if you only want to pander to the lowest common denominator. If you want your game to be great then you put complexity in it... That way it appeals to a wider range of people... Calling your player base too stupid for something is the kind of thing I expect from EA, not SE...

Yoshida wants to copy all the themeparks that went F2P in the last 4 years and make it a subscription model game. Since all his actions generally fit that assumption, he'd need to be replaced as head designer for something creative like that to be added. Either that or he has an epiphany that not listening to feedback is a bad idea and starts doing something about it.

Of course, the game has to survive long enough for those things to occur, which isn't looking too good given the direction of the expansion pack.

You can have Dancer and you already have Bard. Just don't expect them to be anything like in XI. These are different games. Dancer would probably be a melee dps with a whip and some aoe support abilities like Bard if it were added in here.

The game can't stray from the holy trinity! they based the entire game system on the fact that everyone will technically do the same thing if they fall into the one of 3 rolls.

I've healed and DPS'ed as a tank. I've tanked and healed as a DPS. I've tanked and DPS'ed as a healer.

Honestly, there should be no reason why we can't have a healer that can also close range DPS. I mean, I often am in melee range when I heal. Ifrit, Garuda, etc.

As long as the heals can be used at a reasonably long range, it shouldn't be hard for someone to heal when they are further and DPS+heal when they are closer.
