I agree with OP, but i think he forgot one sentence.
- Patchs keep advancing content that comes with a block, and ppl who still dont clear old content, cant experience the new ones. Its frustrating and i see quite a few ppl quiting because of this.
I only feel like quitting when I try to do raid content - it rarely ends well.
Sounds like this isn't the MMO for you. The problem isn't the game, it's your outlook and opinion.
Job System: I think the class system is far from boring, and well designed. In any other MMO, I'd have to go make a new character any time I wanted to try a new job. Fortunately, that's not the case with FFXIV.
Combat: Last I checked, sleep, bind, stun, and silence were in the game. Those are definitely forms of crowd control. I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say "skill chains", unless you're talking about FFXI's skillchain system. While I liked it in FFXI, there's just no way it'd work in FFXIV.
Zodiac Weapons: Your relic questline is optional. It wasn't meant to be completed in a couple of weeks. If you don't have the time or desire to finish your relic upgrade, then just get the soldiery weapon. If you want it, work for it. If you don't see it worth it, don't.
Raiding: I don't see a problem with the raiding. It's very unforgiving, granted, but it should be. WoW has watered down the raiding scene to the point of bosses practically giving you loot just for showing up. That's not how this game's raiding works. You learn the fights and how to deal with the mechanics, or you fail until you do. You shouldn't beat the boss if you're consistently messing up.
Weekly Lockout: Show me one good P2P MMORPG that doesn't have a weekly lockout on their highest-tier endgame content. It's part of the genre. You do your weekly raids, then wait until next week to do more. You're not going to escape weekly lockouts no matter what MMORPG you go to.
If you really aren't having fun with the game and it's current state, why not just stop for now? Come back later and see if it's more to your liking.
Think I'll entertain this topic with rebuttals
Class/Job System- wants summoner changed to pokemon monster fights
Combat- Requires action instead of standing around and partying like it's 1999
Zodiac Weapons- At ilvl 110 it should take a max of 3 weeks and then they quit because they have nothing left to do
Raiding- Requires teamwork and practice
Weekly Lockout- The issue isn't lockouts, it's static team members not having patience to wait for the scheduled day.
In closing some people want to play FFXI so bad that they forget they still can.
I'm sure there are players that quit the game for some of the reasons listed by the OP, but not all of them at the same time when several of them contradict themselves.
The reason is the last quote from my signature.
While I agree with most of your post, it's attitudes like this part that make the game less than hospitable for people who for whatever reason have to depend on PUGs to get through the most difficult content. The attitude that "if you haven't cleared X then it's because you suck/are casual/don't deserve it." I am as hard as anyone on people who want to be carried, like players who are undergeared or geared for the wrong class/job, or those who just decide to hop in to a Leviathan fight expecting everyone else to want to teach them. There is a palpable rift between people who are spamming T6+ and those who are not. The fact of the matter is that much of the raiding is simply too difficult. Too difficult for me? No. Too difficult to expect to get 8 strangers together and clear with a success rate that does not lead to frustration and anger? Yes. There should not be mechanisms that remove players from battle permanently, and if there are, the absence of one member should not be all but an automatic wipe. I play with two of the most skilled players in FF14 and FF11, but the problem is they are in Japan and play on a NA server. Having been on a JP server with them prior, I know how the lag can be a problem. The pressure to be better than everyone else in the raid simply to offset the lag, and the feeling that you let everyone down, often leading to rage-quitting, etc. just take the fun out of the game. I don't mind having challenging versions of raid content, but ideally there should be a weaker version with the same rewards, maybe at a lower drop rate.
As for me I have just about run out of soloable content. I have no plans to quit, and these ~monthly updates help a lot, but there are times when all I do is run in circles watching TV waiting for another BRD-heavy Leviathan X DF to pop.
Also FATEs suck. They really, really do. If you haven't figured that out yet, SE, that's fine. Now you know.
