Let us FIX gear to over 100%!

I know there needs to be a death penalty (let's stay away from experience loss, though...), and I'm all for giving crafters more utility. However, I definitely agree that something needs to be done about the current repair system. Gear gets damaged far too easily, and it's far too difficult to actually get someone to repair gear for you. Maybe it's just because Kashuan is such a small server, but I've stood right in the middle of a group of crafters, offering more than enough gil for the Dark Matter plus a profit, and received no repair love for long periods of time. Of course, the 500% repair idea is a bit ridiculous.

This, however, is a great idea. Assuming the repair system is going to stay around as the primary death penalty, you could take this a step farther. Some ideas that come to mind:

-Gear damage is only incurred on death, or at least only significant levels of damage

-Repair NPCs become more commonplace and can repair gear to 100%

-Disciple of Hand repairs automatically give gear a quality buff, placing durability at 125%, or 150%, or what have you. Or, rather than breaking 100%, a temporary effect could be added that prevents durability loss for x amount of time/x number of deaths/x amount of gear damage.

-Chances to +1 the repair, giving either additional temporary durability or additional stat buffs (or both).

A system similar to this would be more of a reward for players utilizing the repair system, rather than constantly having the threat of damaged/broken gear looming over you. It would, at the very least, have a much more positive feel, kind of like WoW's current rested experience system vs. FFXIV's former fatigue system.

1. allow the NPC repair up to 100%

2. highest NPC repair cost = 10k

3. add repair NPC at every camps

4. no more rank require for repairing, DoH rank 1 can repair everything!

You've just summed up the attitude of a huge portion of forum posters... everywhere.

It boggles the mind to me how you'll see people say something is broken and needs fixing.. Others come along and explain that, no, it's not broken, it works... and proceed to explain how it's working just fine for them. Instead of saying "Okay, well let me give that a try and see how it works", many of them will just continue with "Nope. It doesn't work. It's broken and needs to be fixed".

In short: "I don't want to have to adapt to change or learn something new. I don't want to step out of my comfort zone. I want to continue doing what I'm already doing, and have the game change to suit me. And if the game isn't changed to suit me, then that proves that the devs are clueless and don't listen to their players"

I've seen this mentality pervade the attitude of a lot of people... in every MMO I've played. I don't think it'll ever change.

its because no other MMO relies on crafters as much as this game. you have to remember, this game also has people that are typical MMO players in it too - typical being non crafter heavy.
i too wish i didnt have to rely on crafters as much as i do here.

but as long as dungeons drop actual gear and the crafters are a dime a dozen to where i wont have to shout more than once to get what i would other wise then ill continue to play.
im sure a few hundred thousand MMO players would feel the same way.

100% is max. You can't go over 100%. It's against mathematic laws

hahaha silly man, there is no such thing as anything 100%+ it is 100% then it is "full" you can not go past full ;p

Honestly, this may be a different issue entirely, but my biggest issue with the repair system is the requirement that gear be at 100% in order to be traded or sold. I can't think of a better way to do that, but there it is. It could be made so that when an item is sold/bought, it automatically gets repaired in the process, but that seems a bit too easy to exploit.

Run into this all the time. When you give a perfectly good case on how the system is working properly, and that it's just not being used properly you get this "Stop White Knighting"

But, what can you do, right? People gonna complain

I am all for the repair system. Enjoy it very much. Keeps things social. Keeps people using the proper gear. Keeps crafters crafting. Am curious what the Materia System will bring before I vote for 100%+
repairs.

If they did add higher quality repair outcomes, they could also add another stat that they could add to crafters' gear. Something like "repair quality + whatever". The new gear sets would give crafters another goal to work toward and who doesn't want more goals? I'm just thinking out loud though really. I don't mind the repair system as it is now.

What I would like to see for the death penalty is just have one piece of gear at random get damaged 75% instead of every piece getting a little. Such a pain in the yeah to get every single piece of gear fixed for every member of the party after a long night of raids. Could be one and done for everyone after each run.
