Why is FFXIV considered to be so hard/hardcore?

^ This. Once you find the 7 People who know all the Mechanic and perform well at their job, everything become Cake Walk. The most difficult part is find good people to do it with, this is why people have static now.

The problem with FFXIV is most fight are very unforgiving, and have one shot mechanic. One person died and it cause the whole party to wipe. It focus mostly everyone to stay alive since there an enrage timer on it as well.

Really? I love addons. For me, they make the game MORE fun. I'm very excited to see addon use become a regular thing for this game, too.

Look at the freaking ranged DPS, they all stay in one place for ages. That's typical MMO experience for me.

Having played ranged dps I can sit in the same place for ages as well in this game. Your point?

There is nothing in FFXIV that even comes close to the difficulty of that fight. But yet we pugged it hundreds of times.

I am starting to see a trend though, and some comments here do bring an important point to mind... A lot of the mechanics can cause fail conditions for another person even if both people execute their part correctly. I.E. Titan extreme if people don't stack, you can end up with weights in bad spots where 2 people might dodge their own weight but end up running into another persons. But even that is debatable as it can be prevented by just stacking or just... not running into the other persons...

Ummm, Akilyios wasn't that hard of an encounter. The hardest part was hoping everybody could dodge waves and manage adds. Bosses in the Savage Coil can compare to it.

FFXIV is unforgiving in the sense that it lacks flexibility. One person screws up and it's over.

The term I liked to see thrown around is "team jump roping" The real/p difficulty is finding 7 competent people with similar play schedule and time zone that can jump as well as you.

No, no you can't. Not in the fights which became roadblocks for a lot of people here and which you mentioned in OP.

But would it make it a little more challenging to have to manually hit your spell and click on someones name than having every single persons name on your screen that you just clicked and it healed for you? I think it would. And Deadly Boss Mods is completely insane, should not need that to play an mmo.

What addons do you love and what addons are you excited for to become a regular use?

the whole "one person dies, it's over" is a fallacy.

I have beaten Titan ex from 25% with just a healer and a dps still alive and me tanking. We have picked 5 people up off the floor during Twintania and won. Etc... Etc... Just cause your healers don't have swiftcast doesn't mean they can't rez anyone lol. I just coordinate cooldowns with my healer when such a situation arises so they have time to do hard cast rezzes if needed. Though I will give that some fights, the wrong person down at the wrong time can be a wipe. I.E. Snakes on Twintania, Bees on Rafelesia, etc. But even those situations are possible to beat with capable players.
