Highly dislike the desynth system

the only reason the cap sucks is because they haven't capped stuff before i'd be ok if they had capped crafting but for us to have a 50 in every class only for us to only beable to max 3 desycn class is just dumb considering i cant trade my primal weaps to someone to desycn it *inb4 u can*

I'm not a huge fan of the system, but I understand why it exists in this form and since I'm used to FFXI's crafting system where you can only truly master a few crafts, I don't really mind too much.

It gives more meaning to individualization rather than trying to be a master of everything at once. Surely being able to stand out from the crowd should be encouraged, not avoided.

Why? It's not like crafting serves any practical point.

At its core, this system really only functions as a time sink.

WHY

The cap is lame and goes against the design of the game. The whole idea of a class/job system is that you can choose any class/job you want.

Imagine if they did this for DoW/M. If for one aspect, they made you choose. There would be an uproar.

For some reason its fine if they do it to DoH.

I don't want to continue down this road any further.

all of this did begin with the 2.2 and it continue with this...
on one side we do have FF14:ARR 2.0, where we was able to do whatever we want, max any class we want. playing what we want, when we want.
and suddenly on the other side we do have the stuff added that force you to specialize your character more and more. the time sink is insane for every aspect added recently. it's like they do forget that we do have the class/jobs system.

why? i dunno, maybe they want to make people that only want play one class to feel rewarded.... or maybe they have have forget that we are in FF14 not FF11-2... or even if they have forget that grind is not fun and that we pay for have fun!
all i see it's an artificial way to increase the life of the game and make sure Hardcore gamer have stuff to do. god, they don't even reach the 10% of the community.... that...silly! make all this adjustement for make sure people with tons of hours of play have stuff to do. when from start it's not normal to spend more of 4 hours per day on the game.

You're correct that basic clear, field and battle demis could be obtained from any class (except CUL which produce only clear ones) and having only one or two maxed or at least leveled to high 90 will give you access to new recipies and tools however the main point of specific classes are unique items received from high level desynths like swimsuits from CUL and so on ...

New to mmorgps eh? Let me guess. Wow was your first? If it feels like work, your in the wrong genre. It's not a game it's an Mmorpg. A hobby. If you want to play games, avoid mmorpgs. They're a lifestyle. They take a time investment. People don't play them to get a high score and swing epeen, they play them because they like the very things your complaining about.

Finally, not sure what self entitled world you live in but the developers design the game, not you. You either play it and like it - play it and deal with it - or don't.

To be honest, developers allowing players to have a say is exactly when the genre went to hell. #looksatblizzard

EDIT - ok so the character limit is a senseless joke, but we will cope. Including the post you quote now... That's just plain stupid.

I have two desynth skills almost 90 and another around 65. Your off skill only goes down by .01 and it isn't even every time you desynth something.

Also, there is a theory about skill locking which involves rotating your desynths. ie desynth GSM>BSM>CUL>GSM... Apparently, your last three skills won't lower if it's done like this.

You guys know that you can lock your high level desync jobs and prevent it from de-leveling by intentionally desync junk of that class every now and then right?
