Are Hunts Ruining Final Fantasy XIV?

Yeah I saw someone on my server use a macro that announces when a pull or hold is happening. If you pull before this person, I've seen them shout "this person from this free company pulled early." The only reason for crap like that is to get a character that pulled early blackballed by anyone in earshot, and that's just mean spirited in my opinion. You didn't see that before hunts came along.

So do you stop and ask them if the can't down SCoB? Do you examine people in the 30 seconds of the fight to see if what they are wearing is really their gear or if they glamored? Cause this seems like nothing more than pure speculation on your part. People will do what is easiest and fastest to do regardless of whether they can down SCoB or not. That is and always has been a fact of life.

At best hunts are imbalanced. The rewards for daily/weekly hunts are incomprehensibly low and the rewards for abusing the system exceedingly high. There is a huge supply and demand problem where too many people want to hunt but there aren't enough hunt mobs to go around. Blaming the player base is incredibly misguided, of course there's going to be tension when a system is implemented that rewards selfishness.

I understand what the hunt is supposed to be but it's fallen woefully short.

So thats it huh, find a ls, join a pt, spend hours farming?

Whats the problem again?

Yeah, he got called out for this in all the Linkshells he was in (that I was in also, anyway). Basically was told that he was griefing the entire community for his macros and enticing people to blacklist others. He's not in any of the LS I'm in anymore, I think he had to make his own.

I don't know, I basically stopped hunting. BRD BiS is sands for Body/Belt. Got those with book drops and finished alexandrite with the seals. Got the two minions, I'm done until the flame dies down (which I believe it will).

I'll hit up S ranks I see, but probably just get training dummies for my house.

I still stand by the fact that hunts didn't ruin the game, players ruined the hunts. But that's just my opinion...

That's horrible. they either need to remove this content for a bit until they fix it, or have a maintenance or something. it's not runing the game, but dare is say...making the community more toxic than it already is.
thats a shame. ik hunts are pretty flawed but i do agree to some extent ppl are making it much much more worse than it really is.
asides the whole cheating app thing.

All I can say is... LoL! I would love to ask that person how they plan to get someone's IP address though a service running through a central server that handles all that information and basically anonymizes every single player's connection information.... Do they have some secret access onto SE's servers to actually see that data? LoL

Atm was the %(^*^*$(##)$)%)%) worst. Animus was pretty annoying too. I love Novus though.

I think it's both a blessing and a curse for SE.
There are people like me who has crazy real life responsiblities and even more crazy work hours that hinders me from joining a raid static. So while I sit with ilvl100 stuff, people who have statics will only get geared more and more weekly. Where does that leave us? The ones with real life stuff? The ones you know who are good players but can't dedicate themselves to the game for certain reasons? This is where hunts come in for us. A way for us to be at least on par with people who have statics. And a lot of the BiS gears are high allagan so it's not like those who don't go to second coil will have better gears.

Give it a few weeks and it will die down like the fate farm to do ct and atma farming. And judging by how SE works, they will start giving away the carrots we were after because there will be new carrots out for us to chase in a few months.

I think it's the more hardcore endgame raid people that are going after allied seals for the sands of time that are taking it too seriously. I bet the problem would be solved if oil/sands of time was removed from the rewards.

It's such a pity too. The feature is so awesome on its own, where the fights themselves can be fun and add at least some degree of "life" to the open world. By that, I'm not referring to players being out and about, but rather that there might be something unique roaming an area. Assuming the hunts don't get a Coil equivalent buff when the 3rd Coil releases, I'd imagine it'll die down significantly at that time. The people ruining the intended experience would have gotten more than enough seals to deck out their main/alt jobs.

Then again, when that time comes, chances are Myth tomes will no longer be used, meaning the elites will be adjusted to also give whatever the new tomes will be. So... same crowd back at it. :( At least there will be a cap on that one though (not implying seals need a cap, but that those players won't benefit in the way they want for very long).
