I agree mostly with the OP, there are going to be some adjusting i'm sure, but this patch imo is a big step in the right direction. We'll see what further changes will be done in 1.19.

The thing I think people don't understand the most is that there will always be problems, bugs, and imbalances with new updates. Which is fine because it's the nature of the beast. The real problem comes into play if those problems, bugs, and imbalances are not recognized enough to warrant adjustments (such as some FFXI job imbalances that were around for-freakin'-ever). Like if Yoshida comes out and says something like, "Running through fences and DoL classes being eaten alive aren't issues and will not be changed," THEN there is a problem.
But fret not, I would place my bets that some fixes are in the works already. It's trial by fire with no public test servers.
A relaunch is not going to happen if the patches continue to have drastic negativity because they are relying on reputation and US inviting our old friends.
And I garauntee you people here will tell their friends to avoid XIV like the black-plague, because I do.
If a game continues to receive a negative reputation there will be no flipping relaunch to look forward to.
my problem is, you are assuming everything is going to be great and they know all the issues problems, and how people will actually play the stuff they designed.
Based on past history with ffxi, and this game, i do not think this is the case, i think they need feedback, and they need people telling them how people are dealing with the changes they made. While i believe some of them were anticipated, i feel many probably arent.
So essentially, being quiet and hoping for the best and ignoring whatever flaws, hoping they know what you are thinking in your head is pointless. Give them real feedback that they can use, and see what people are thinking so they can make changes with these issues in mind.
basic skill timers currently make no sense at all, for every class they made them basically into weaker weapon skills on a longer timer. and they are not even particularly useful or cool looking WS at that. I really dont see how that change will synergize with anything else, and make sense with long term plans, it needs to be reexamined.
